In this lesson, we learn the notes of the G MAJOR SCALE for the ALTO SAX.m Here are the note names:
G MAJOR SCALE G - A - B - C - D - E - F# - G
*Your band director might refer to this scale as "Concert B-flat". The alto saxophone is a TRANSPOSING instrument, and so when you play a G major scale on alto sax it is ACTUALLY a B-flat major scale on piano*
When you first start to learn a new scale, it is important to go SLOWLY through each note and be sure you are playing it correctly. In this new series of videos, I will demonstrate each scale for you slowly, note-by-note. Each note is shown with a fingering chart. Once you can play the scale at this slow speed, you can practice playing it faster and faster.
