This is one of Jamaica less talk about musical icon ,rest in peace Mr. Alton number one Ellis.

The "flute" solo is actually much later "add-on" played on a synthesizer. However done with a good taste. The 1969 original is a couple of minutes shorter. This extended version with the flute-like synth solo was released on the 1995 CD version of the album. Just for your information, it doesn't diminish the greatness of the original a bit, in my opinion. Cheers.

This is why Alton is the daddy...wicked tune and the riddim is a dancehall classic. Many sound systems drew this on their sets.

One of my all-time favourite tracks from the Father himself. One killer riddim this is, quite a few versions out there, the stand out being Sugar Minott's "Never Give Jah Up".

Such a small island...Soo much big talent , these singers had Fame in there own right but I think it's worthy to mention most made way less than they truly deserved , compared to black Soul artist in America at the time .... Jamaican musicians made music for the people and stayed humble
