I would love to see a review on the Altra Kings! Also a comparison video maybe for the escalates vs the escalate racers? I'd love to know what you think about the difference between those 2 shoes.
Congrats on reaching over 1,000 man. feels like a channel with a quality of those in the tens or hundreds of thousands. Also need to get myself a shoe that drains better so another one for the lineup.

Great review of these GREAT shoes!!! I own these ones and tried the Lone peak but I have foot problems and LP weren't fitting as good as these ones.... THESE FEELS LIKE SLIPPERS!
Hey Derek. I have a question I'd like your help with, but it's not about the shoe (hope that's ok). What OCR vest would you recommend if I'm just wanting to carry two speed flasks in the front, a few snacks (front or back), but not a camel back? Any thoughts?
Sure thing! I won't lie, that Salomon line is a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion. If you want to go the budget route, I suggest a triwonder/aonjie vest
For me personally it is since I use it quite often on longer training runs and during any beast or ultra, but I also wanted something extremely light weight and the Salomon adv skin sets are among the best. HOWEVER if you're only going to use it for a race or two and don't need top line products, the triwonder vests are solid at just $30-50 and will do everything you need them to. That's what I used before I went to the Salomon. I just have expensive taste sometimes and wanted more compression haha
That's honestly all dependent on your foot, foot shape, and running mechanics. I personally prefer altra superiors and altra kings as I like the zero drop and wide toe box. Everyone is different and everyone has their preferences. I'm going to be doing an entire series dedicated to shoes. Until then, I'd recommend going and getting fitted/trying them on to see what best suits you
I need some help big time- im trying to find an altra type/heavy or semi heavy cushioned trail shoe that is designed like a barefoot type shoe- neutral,minimal flat, zero drop without any arch support- or in other words a converse allstar shoe that has a zero drop,no arch, flat, but alot of cushion- a barefoot shoe that has padding under it- the perfect shoe for me would be a viviobarefoot shoe but instead of being so close to the ground it has padding like a normal shoe- I searched this one but one site said it had high arch which is exactly what i dont want- so im still confused
Exactly what i'm trying to find and i think the Altras are the best option. I run on the road in vapourglove 4 and use them on trails as well, but am hitting my toes on rocks too much and need that extra protection, the superior 4.0 looks to be the best bet.
Look into the Altra Olympus 3.0. I ran in Vibram Fivefingers and Vapor Gloves until I developed big toe pain. The Olympus has been a Godsend. With my feet I can't have any arch support either.
I am doing a beast in August. I think this is a perfect shoe, thoughts? I have merrel all out light with big lugs for shorter races. They will be replaced by the kings. Love to know a comparison on superior vs king, pros and cons of each. 🤪

@@obstacleactivist9741 I just rocked a beast in the Superiors. They were amazing. I trained on them for 6 wks before the race. The break in time is essential.
Great review! Am I understanding you correctly that they don't have the grip of the Speedcross 5's? They are my current trail shoe, but they are heavy. Can you get 100% heel lock down in these? I can't stand my feet sliding when I'm trying to run, especially on rough terrain. Thanks!
The superiors grip is definitely where they are lacking, at least in my opinion, but I don't wear them for grip I wear them for their lightweight and speed. If I'm looking for a better grip I wear my altra kings. As far as heel lock, you can still do a heel lock with your laces, it just isn't as effective. That being said, I personally do not have my feet slide in these
