Good luck with the build & channel. Thanks for the video. I installed an ACCC on a 2013 Tacoma Access cab Long box in March & am currently designing and building out the interior. I built and traveled in a Transit van on and off for 4 years. Designing for the ACCC is 5X more challenging than the van was.
Great Vid, and a great product,, I am getting one for my Tundra.. one thing.. you mentioned that there are only this type of Add on to your truck from Alu-Cab.. they actually make a unit called Khaya its a self contained unit that you drive your vehicle under and mount.. another great product from these guys! too kewl! Have fun adventuring!
I like the Tibetan/Nepalese prayer flags inside the camper (I am from that part of the world). I wanted to ask you two questions: 1) Do you daily drive this truck with that camper? If you do, is it awkward? 2) How much has the mpg of the truck taken hit because of that camper? It was a great video and I hope that you enjoy your time with the camper!
No its very light..Much lighter than my previous setup by about 75lbs. Camper only weighs 450ish minus the weight of the tailgate. With that said I do plan on getting a Hellwig rear sway bar in the near future.
@@HudsonZRoamer Thanks Hudson, you always exploring the limits of what's possible. Looking forward to more. Subscribed to make sure I don't miss it. BTW. Did you get it from Dan up in LA?
Prefer this kind of format/presentation. Feels more honest and friendly. Keep on posting video brother. Much appreciate the knowledge that you're sharing.
Appreciate the kind words although I did receive messages that was too short and rushed.. So I did another more detailed and structure video of the setup here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KeDcWE-uDG0.html
Great video, I have one on order and your setup helped in deciding on some setup options. I have a 2019 GMC Canyon all terrain, short bed. Couple questions. did your antenna interfere with placement of the Camper, if so any alternative solutions for the antenna? Also, some folks have complained about difficulty in folding/closing the roof top tent, what has been your experience. Again thanks for the video. Super setup, like the cushions idea. Looking forward to more of your videos/ideas and trips.
Thanks for checking out the video..I purchased a CravenStubby Antenna Replacement on Amazon. I am 6'2 and a bigger guy I have zero issues opening the camper. My partner is small she has some difficulty opening the camper. I have seen some people use a pole to push it open. Closing the camper wedge takes some getting used to. Its very easy but does require a bit of force to get it started while pulling down.
@@HudsonZRoamer Thanks for the info. Had not seen the Cravenstubby for the Canyon. have ordered it. BTW, did you ad any leaf springs? Again great buildout. looking forward to more of your video's.
Hard to say how much is the wind drag and how much is the extra weight but my Tacoma with Alu Cab canopy gets about 12 mpg. However, I am running a three inch lift, 33’s, 4.88 Nitro gears, etc. My rig weighs 6900 lbs. I have to imagine his Dura max does quite a bit better
Thanks for the video, although short, it gives a great introduction. What made you choose this particular camper?I’m starting to research these type of campers and wonder if you had a chance to look into the Super Pacific Switchback X1, another very similar product. Thanks!
Alu cab community is international and has been tested pretty much everywhere in the world. Tons of companies support this camper and the biggest plus is not having to deal with a tailgate. The camper can be fully sealed as well. Too long to list here why I purchased.
Curious about your onboard electric system. How much space does the battery take up in the goose gear module and are you able to use the module for storage of other things or is solely consumed by the battery? Are the remainder of the fuses, solar controller ect mounted behind the wall panel with the switches? Also did you insulate behind the goose gear, and how do you prevent water lines from freezing? About to pull the trigger on an alu cab very soon, just trying to make sure all my details are sorted so I don't have any expensive blunders. Thanks!
Doesn’t take up very much room I have it installed in a Norco battery box along with insulation. I can stack quite a bit of gear on top of the battery box. Everything power comes in behind the main power panel. You should watch my other videos it’ll answer some of your questions I think.
Great setup man. Just got ahold of the GP factor molle panels myself for my ACCC. Curious - what are the brand of bags you have attached back there? I'm sure I could figure it out but they just look to fit perfectly. Thanks!
@@blakegarner3719 Oh sorry I misread about the hitch question, I thought you said hitch setup. The hitch step is a TGL hitch step I got on Amazon. Its very well built and I highly recommend an anti-rattle hitch tightner to go with it.
Hey do you mind telling me which size exped duo 10 mattress size fits in that camper? there are 2 sizes one that is 40 inch wide and the other 52inches wide? Thanks in advance
New Holland Overland makes them and they weigh next to nothing. I did not have to replace the gas springs on this side but on the other side (where the EE RBQM is mounted) I used Guden gas springs, check out my other video on the EE Maxtrax mount, I discuss it there.
It’s not a slide in camper. It’s a canopy that sits on the rails just like a fiberglass topper….But it has a pop top tent, it does not slide in. Alu Cab makes a slide in camper called the Khaya. So no I haven’t had any issues because it’s not a slide in camper.
To my knowledge alu cab do not make fitment kits for Nissans on the canopy camper. Although they do make a really nice slide in camper called the Khaya that would work instead. The Canopy Campers start at around $10k
@@HudsonZRoamer Yes the one where you have fixed the tools like the saw. On the left side door. Sorry for the writing, it's Google translation 😬 I didn't find it on the gp factor site
How much did the SP go up in price? BTW I was replying to your load rating question on my other video (Explorer Canopy) and made a typo error when I went to delete it and do a new reply I accidentally deleted your comment. It inspired me to make a sticky for all the load ratings.. Thanks for the comments.
@@HudsonZRoamer it's all about the helping community! Appreciate the circle back with the load if you do figure it out. It's hard to say on the SP but I confirmed such in a truck thread. I remember it being around 9k just above GFC. Now the standard costs $11,995. They have upped it a couple different times. Which is understandable with the demand. However, its well in the range of this awesome alucab canopy camper. Diff needs & diff functions though of course.
@@HudsonZRoamer thank you so much. That makes a lot more sense. Not sure why they don't just list these things but I understand it can vary by truck model.
