Alum Cave Trail, Great Smoky Mountains Hike | Appalachian Mountains, Ep. 7

The Alum Cave trail (also known as the Alum Cave Bluff Trail) is a fantastic short, but somewhat difficult hike up to the Alum Cave Bluffs in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Along the way, you will see Arch Rock, a naturally formed arch with a set of stairs, and Inspiration Point, a health bald with panoramic views of Little Duck Hawk Ridge and the Eye of the Needle. This trail is also the most popular way to continue hiking up to Mount LeConte, one of the best views and places to experience in the Smokies.
This is the seventh episode of our Appalachian Mountain series where we took a two week road trip from Shenandoah National Park down the Blue Ridge Parkway and explored the Great Smoky Mountains. From hiking various portions of the Appalachian Trail up to summits and balds, to exploring majestic waterfalls and bluffs and historical mills and cabins deep within Appalachia, we definitely enjoyed seeing the beauty of America's National Parks.

Those narrow log bridges are so cool! What a unique feature for a hiking trail... seriously love it. And Arch Rock is so epic - what a fun set of stairs. Hahaha - yeah, it doesn't really scream "cave" to me either, but at least it looks really cool! Thanks fo sharing guys - loved the video!

This parking reminds us of the national park here which we went last month and yeah need to go early otherwise we'll get parking very far away, wow you made it to the top and the view from there looks amazing!

There's a point in this video where we're going through Arch Rock and there's a couple with two kids on their back. Every time I see it, I can't even IMAGINE going up all those stairs with two little humans on my back. They got MAD RESPECT from me!! -Greyhound
