Remember Inter's forwards in pes 04 and 05 when Adriano had shot power 99 and Recoba had shot power 94 with swerve 97? And then in pes 06 when Ibrahimovic joined with 97 body balance meaning no defenders could outbody him making them the scariest combo in that game? And oh there was Martins too with speed 99 and then crespo with cruz as well. I remember it so well there were moments it was forbidden to pick Inter when i played with my friends and it was considered cheating because it felt so unfair lol. What good memories..
Unfortunately he was very inconsistent, and also injury prone, which is why he never lived up to his potential or established himself as a great like Messi. But in terms of natural talent with his passing, technique, striking ability from distance, and ability to bend the ball on target with pace and accuracy from free kicks, he had the potential to be a superstar, and did some incredible things on the pitch throughout his career.
@@jackpuccini3143 I respectfully disagree on the consistency argument, he wasn't given enough opportunities despite proving himself time and again off the bench especially with Mancini.
@@j.c.n9718 That is also true; Inter were stacked during that time, but the team environment was a mess and they always underwhelmed. Maybe they had too many good players and some struggled to find space. So many great players who didn't do quite as well at Inter then went on to do well elsewhere after they left after all (Seedorf, Pirlo, Cannavaro...)
@r9fahdr9 6:07 too this just mind boggling He was equipped with more weapon than Messi Like Long range goal very powerful left foot. , crazy curve He can score from corner He can Dribble Play make This guy was a next level one of the most talented footballer I have ever seen until this day Unfortunately never consistent He can play one game very good then 4 games he’s not there
Miss the good old days, When we hangout each other discuss about game and player with megazine and football newspapers on the table... Laugh and debate on the spot...not like now hide behind screens... 😭
Jerome Syed in that time there was Ronaldo. On the debut of Recoba Ronaldo was playing and Recoba overshadowed him with two stunners giving the victory after coming from one goal behind. That’s legend stuff.
i guess u never followed the Serie A when he played. He absolutely sucks , i mean, he's good for highlughts, good left foot but totally inapt to play in a winner team, indeed he played for inter. All Italy world football did jokes about moratti who paying him million and millions to sucks
@jeremiah jayaseelan he's not overhyping, serie A was the league with the most money, players and success back then. Late 90s inter was indeed a forever to be reckoned.
@jeremiah jayaseelan years going by don't always mean progress.. that people somehow automatically become superhuman or better than they were 20 years ago is wrong.. look those fields and compare them to current pristine ones.. and then think about what they did with the ball..
90s was also when seria a was the best league in the world but it wasn't peak inter even with all that talent. It was 2010 inter who won not only the champions league but the treble.
@jeremiah jayaseelan mate what are you saying? am lucky to have seen that era play and this current generation play. this era can't compare themselves to the recoba etc etc era. Different kind of ballers. Real Ballers.
He played very well which Baggio, Ronaldo, Adriano, Zanetti, Vieri, and looks like everyone was happy to have him as a friend and a professional. Miss those times, lots of awesome players
@@joewheeler2131 bollocks. Serie A was the best in early mid 90s. But around 99/00. It became the most boring league in the world. Constant defending and cattanachio. La Liga meanwhile ushered in the galacticos. Barca and Real were scintillating to watch. Premier League was awesome too. Italian league prime was when Diego and baggio and signori etc was there.
@@sugs1191 yeah, I agree that by the turn of the century, as you say, it became boring. But this is a video about Alvaro Ricoba. During his first spell at Inter he played alongside the likes of Zanetti, Djorkaeff, Diego Simeone, Zamorano, and, ahem, a certain Ronaldo. Not to mention other greats of the era: Nesta, Nedved, Mancini...etc. By hey, yeah, I guess they weren't all that good...🤷🏼♂️
I was 16 y.old when i saw him for the 1st time , in front of my t.v. waiting a Ronaldo il FENOMENO"S goal... but that day some one else stole my heart . ALVARO "EL CHINO" RECOBA. il suo piede sinistro dovrebbe essere protetto dall UNESCO.... LOVE YOU...20
football is all about strategies these days... we may never see flair again in any player... Messi is the best player of all time... but he is finished... Cristiano is one of the bests... but he is a different player now... Neymar is the last player with natural flair... I can't see anyone after him... Brazil and Argentina has been the supplier of free style footballers... but they are following european model nowadays...
@Leonardo Russo youre absolutely correct about the evolution of football. But i think what they mean is that football has become less expressive then it once was. Systems have become more rigid and so the individual genius some people often conjured is less often seen. Footballs still as beautiful as ever but i the expressiveness once present. Also the pressure has become more then ever on players which also may cause a player to refrain from taking too many risks.
I watched Recoba during his time. His free kick is the best even if compared to Messi and CR7. His dribble is fast and amazing. His body balance is also great. He stood as a distinctive player among many legends then such as Batigoal, Bagio, Ronaldo, Del Piero, Totti, and many more. Serie A was the best league at that time. Watching even underdog teams playing was still interesting.
@Netaji-The British Slayer Not even Messi even though he's a genius in own way Messi isn't as skillful as people perceived him his dribbling is very simple he just mastered his art. Recoba would make players look silly similar to what Ronaldinho would do
@shaquillethomas1544 If you grew up playing street football, you would know what makes the game so beautiful is the skills the magic, etc Of course, Messi can dribble players. I never said the opposite. I'm just saying players like Recoba, Ronaldinho, or Bergkamp, etc they were just classy and extremely skillful and memorizing to watch Messi used to watch Ronaldinho and Deco during practice and try to mimic what they did that says a lot
0:37 Gol Maradoneano 0:53 Gol Roberto Carlos 1:09 Gol Zidane 1:39 Gol Zlatan 1:45 Gol Neymar 2:16 movimiento Ronaldinho 2:45 Gol Messi 2:53 Gol Messi 3:27 Gol Riquelme 6 Goles de corner, ÚNICAMENTE RECOBA
are you crazy????????? he is the player most discontinuos ever.. Moratti waited him for 10 years and he didnt play a season as starting player. potentially he could a great player but he is only a monster talent never expressed
Don’t get fooled by the highlights, if you watch this video you can think this is the best player ever. He was the most discontinuous player ever, he play well half a match and then bad for 10 game straight.
Its the truth. Only fans of cr7 and messi cant deal with it. From 80s to early 2000s there were much more top level players than today. And defenders were much better.. I just cant imagine cristiano tryin to pass monsters like montero ferrara thuram and edgar davids in front of them.
Emerson Lemus of course bro, for examples: 1. In era 80 - early 2000 most of clubs had an iconic player in the club. 2. In era 80 - early 2000 most of clubs had a charismatic captain 3. Most players had loyality for his club because he had ambition to be a legends not just for money. Its a litle examples.....
Procurem no RU-vid. il mago rossonero.
omar omar And everyday of it is a lesser physically challenged day from any day from the pure and normal 80s 90s previous footballing era which most of you kids yet come to understand of its difference and significance to a player's performance and longevity.
omar omar Then name me the best national team of 1982 and best players of the 80s, 90s and early 2000. Yah sure you are which surely you aren't then there's no need to reexplain further. It's self understood. You 4-6' ft kid !
Wow...!!! Only just discovered this gem. Appears the only thing separating him from widely recognised greats is injury and being rom Uruguay. Clearly an incredible technical talent with speed to go with it! Inter Milan had so many monster players!!🔥🔥🔥
I think a lot of you don't understand that Recoba was amongst the best, if not the best player in the world. His issue was the lack of passion and discipline that he had with the game the his body. There is no question about it, Recoba's talent and skill is in the conversation for one of the greatest to ever live. The only reason his career numbers don't back it up is because of the things I mentioned earlier, lack of passion and discipline.
Mauricio Longton which in turn makes him useless in comparison to the others. Both Ronaldos, Messi, Maradona, Ronaldinho and Zidane are all better talents.
Mauricio Longton I've seen way better close control and dribbling in players like Maradona, Messi, R9, Ronaldinho and Zidane who also had more consistent finishing capabilities. CR7 is also a far better shooter than Recoba, and this is evidenced in how Ronaldo has scored far more long range goals from farther ranges. Look I know you are a big fan of Recoba, but let's face it he was a tier below those guys when it came to talent. R9 had already won a FIFA world player of the year award in 1996 aged 19 and had scored 47 goals in 49 games. Was it really all about discipline with Recoba or was he actually just an inconsistent player? It was probably a bit of both but guys like R9, Messi, CR7 and Maradona especially wowed the audience almost very game. Maradona had some terrible personal issues and he still managed to be far greater than Recoba. You want to know why? It's because Maradona was far kris gifted. R9 suffered from a metabolic disorder and devastating injuries yet he still achieved far more than Recoba could ever dream of. That's again due to R9 being the more talented player. Stop making excuses for a guy like Recoba because there have been players that lived a similar lifestyle or overcame difficult obstacles yet were far better than him. The final example would be Ronaldinho. He was a frequent partier and couldn't keep his weight under control right in the middle of his prime. And again, he still achieved far more than Recoba. This is all irrelevant anyway, I don't care about how technically gifted Recoba was, you may overrate him to the godly status that the others I mentioned are in. But it's all meaningless in the end because he couldn't apply his skills as great as the others could nor as consistently.
Mauricio Longton I wouldn’t say the guy had a lack of passion, but definitely injuries played a part. But please let’s not compare him to Messi. No one that really knows about soccer has ever even compare the two. So all of a sudden because one person makes a highlight reel we going to compare him with one of the greatest players ever, please.......
Jairo He was injured all the time because he didn't take care of his body. Too many muscular injuries show lack training discipline and bad food habits. Comitted players don't usually get injured (Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, just to name top examples, they don't get injured a lot because they are very strict about their diet and training)
One of my favority players :))) when I was a Chilldren i played wining eleven 6 with internacionale de milão... my ataque was Recoba, Adriano Imperador and Ibrahimovic 😉😉😉😉
One of my favourite player when i was a kid. Played for the "wrong" club but i fell in love with his skill and always tried to play like him. To this day he is one of the craziest magicians with the ball and sadly often overlooked. Rhapsody in motion, Chino was a beast.
In my opinion south america have produce the best footballers of all time and maradona Pele messi this man recoba forlan Suarez zanetti neymar(rolling star) Rene higuita riquelme ronaldinho Ronaldo fenomeno rivaldo Roberto Carlos cafu etc also other huge star players so i like south american players very much and keep in mind that I m cr7 fan but still south america is where football is
@@MisterPartner.not as composed? Look at the goal at 1:47 that’s pure composure. Recoba’s issue was not taking football seriously, he didn’t train well enough which resulted in him not being able to play every game.
Great player with a great left foot but with no continuity! He played a great match and the next, when you expected the same level.....he missed the opportunity to be a GREAT player for this reason.
Grazie
Exactly..... that’s why to compare him with Messi makes absolutely no sense at all. Messi has been ridiculously consistent at an extremely high level. But none the less I really admired Reccoba
I remember watching him play numerous times for inter and uruguay but for some reason he just never received the praise globally same with stephan dalmat he was also brilliant but never received the recognition he deserved...
It's the BLACK in them. Recoba I'm not sure because his great uncle played for Uruguay in the 1930s and he was fairly caucasoid but Ghiggia, Fonseca and Suarez are/were partially black.
Ron P - We mostly have european origins here. Almost no indian blood remains here. There's a interesting exceptions this days and it's Edinson Cavani, who shows clear signs of indigenous Charrua ancestors.
Alvaro Recoba made in Uruguay !
Talented player and his left foot is incredible as well as his finesse shoots ! Beyond imaginations !!! Let’s not forgot his free kicks skills, if you give him 20 he will easily going to score the whole 20 or at least 19! Missed the old days already !
Back then he was facing the likes of Cannavaro,Maldini,Nesta , Jaap Stam. But now Cr7 and Messi are facing Phil Jones and Sol Bamba . Football are more tastier in those days
If he would've play in this generation he must be the most exciting left-footed player in the world. Technically gifted and a extraordinary left-foot .
Álvaro Recoba was great; he had an awesome left foot, saw a lot of olympic goals from him. One of my favorite players of all times (still got his jersey #20), but your video tittle is wrong in trying to mock Messi....the rest of the video footage is great man!
He was considered better than R9 at Inter .Was the highest Papua player in the world from 1999-2001 .The problem with him was he couldn’t recover his high levels consistently enough . Nevertheless, those who watched football at that time know how good this guy was . He actually played the most beautiful football comparable only to Michael Laudrup.
It's called Olympic Goal because of Cesareo Onzari and yes Recoba holds the South American record for Olympic Goals scored with five, Spanish Rogelio Sosa holds the world record with ten.
+Mopedsauce Chateaux he's one of the greatest left footed players I've ever seen. his days at inter Milan was great. he's the one that mastermind Uruguay come back against Senegal in 2002 World Cup
yah, pointless... since serie A in his time is tougher than nowadays BBVA. Just imagine Messi play in his time and also in serie A, we don't need to talk about how many goal messi can create, but the correct question is, how many match would he get??! can he even has the chance to break through the first team. Mark my word, Messi is pure talent, pure protected talent. If only he get a tough starting carreer, his path of life would change so much... Barcelona needs to sacrifice Eto'o to lit Messi's shine, they even throw Ibrahimovich while he is on fire in barcelona, all for this is to make messi shines. Even FIFA change football just to protect his talent. labeling cattenaccio as a taboo in modern football just to let him drible as much as he wants. Everytime messi gets trouble with his play, that team would be labelled as negative football and 100 % deserve to get discredit in football community. They put pressure to every great defensive team so hard just to allow his ultra offensive barcelona dance every weeks. The referee protects them, FIFA protects them. media protects them, the fans do the same. compare to the culture of football in serie A for Alvaro Recoba, messi is nothing!
serie A that time is hardest league. you need super extra effort to be player like maldini nesta lilian turam buffon batistuta nedved mihajlovic stankovic ivan cordoba del piero. the list still go on
Players were soo good back then because there were no online computer and mobile games like today. Young boys in the early era of 80's dedicated their life for football
You can compare Recoba with Gerrard, Kaka, Pirlo but it is so absurd to even compare Recoba with Leo Messi... Messi is at another level. Messi is the greatest player of all time.
