CONE FOR 10 DAYS
For Alvi it's time to recover after his eye surgery and after a rough beginning he quickly starts to feel much better... Sadly he has to wear a cone for 10 days, which means a lot of discomfort and a house arrest he doesn't agree with.
Watch until the end, as Alvi cat videos usually have both a head and a tail!

I can't help crying. It makes me so sad to see animals hurting and confused by their temporary circumstances. I really look forward to the cone coming off and watching Alvi get back to his normal self. And my genuine thanks to you for being so good to Alvi and looking after him with such love and devotion. We have known Alvi for years now and it's heartbreaking to see him this way. Good to see he is eating and drinking and doing fine. wow that cone is a bother, but so necessary. He was in generally in good health before his surgery so his recovery should be fine.

Poor sweet Alvi! It’s so hard to see our beloved pets feeling uncomfortable and the cone really disturbs cats; they adapt, it’s true, but it really breaks my heart to perceive their discomfort as I always wonder whether or not they understand we’re taking these extreme measures for their own good. Be strong, little Alvi, even if faced with a single eye everything will soon get better and you’ll be back to your full, happy life. 😘❤️

Well, It sucks missing an eye but on the other hand, he looks badass. What about a middle name or an Alias like Horus or Odin. (hope his remaining eye is healthy)

It is sad to see Alvi confused and in pain. Without one of his beautiful eyes, too. This is a very hard time for all of you. Doing what is best for him when you see him so unhappy is the test of true love. I am so glad he is on the mend. Best wishes for all of you

Just rescued one eyed cat with FIV. After week of adoption he’s wearing cone for previous injuries. Love your comments. Might have to take him to vet for dehydration. Your insights super helpful.

I can emphasize with you we had to go through the cone thing recently with Simon. He sure did enjoy us helping him with the neck scratching. Every time he would try and scratch we would get where he could not reach. Thanks for the update. Well wishes to you all. ❤🙏

Poor darling Alvi, I've been waiting to see how he was going, bless him. So happy he's coping better, its so hard with the cone but you can see how it protects him from scratching and catching his eye. O dear, what a struggle, 😭 so hard to watch our pets suffer. It is awful to see them frustrated and trapped inside the cone. They have to endure, we have to endure, and our hearts sink each time we see them like that and feel their frustration. The first day would have been simply awful for you. Felt so bad for the little human stroking her beloved Alvi. So happy to see that you got through the ten days and he is recovered and ready to be freed tomorrow. Now we have to wait ten days to see his liberation! So looking forward...

Corruntely I going through for the same process. I do understand the frustration to see our baby confused and out of the regular routine. It brakes your heart. Today is the six day wearing a donuts type of collar, which is more comfortable than the hard plastic e-collar. He is still a little depressed but eating and drinking normally. Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me feel I am not the only one worry

Alvi is such a loved kitty it is difficult to be firm and follow the Drs orders. But you have to just like with a young child who is in recovery from an illness. Hopefully his healing will be well along next week and Alvi's life will be much better. 💙

Love from me and Marble (my cat) in Arkansas! We know Alvi will get the hang of it soon! I started watching you and Alvi when I was preparing to get Marble. Marble is my first pet to have while living away from my family, and we have never had a cat that was allowed inside before. Only yard cats. I am very experienced with dogs and goats and sheep, but cats were a new challenge for me! You and Alvi helped me build my confidence and encourage me before getting my sweet girl Marble, so now I hope me and Marble can encourage you back!

Awww, bless him. Deedee feels your pain Alvi, she has dermatitis and every now and again it flairs up so she has to have the cone on for a few days and she just hates it too. I'm so happy to see you doing so well after a tough start and you'll be back to your normal self in no time I'm sure.

Alvi did pretty good. Those cones are so tough. Our friend's cat had to have it as well for a hip surgery and the licking is the worst for them. They hate not being able to clean. Looking forward to seeing his progress. Good health to you Alvi!

Oh baby. I'm so sorry for all the happenings. It's so hard and heart-breaking to see the struggle. I'm glad he's healing. He can get a kitty bath or use the wipes for his fur. He's healing well. I pray after collar removal things will just keep getting better!

Can’t wait to see him without the cone! You are a strong man, I wouldn’t have been able to keep that cone on him for so long. Well, to be true, I *was* unable to do that in the past. I would take it out and put it back times and again. One cat (chest surgery) had to go back to the vet to have her stitches attended to because of my inability to keep the cone on. BTW, there is a soft cone (made out of some sort of fabric with a metal circle) that seems to be easier on animals. At least it doesn’t make the plastic noise when they bump into things. Also, it bends so it makes it easier to eat.

They say the soft cone is easier to get rid of and Alvi already managed to get his cone off twice. That's why we decided to stick with the vet's cone.

Thank you for this update on Alvi's progress! If he has to wear a cone again (for something simple), perhaps as soon as he returns home, start brushing him. We know he would rather use his tongue to clean himself, but a brush will feel good and may do an acceptable job. I'm sure you both comforted him as much as you could. After watching this video, I went over to the Walter Santi channel (in Turkey) to see that a white-and-orange cat there was having eye problems as well, on top of trying to be accepted into a cat colony the humans have set up in their home. Another good story about how humans help cats and other animals as well! Those orange cats always have adventures!

There is hardly anything as fun as watching cats (unless maybe it's baby African or Asian elephants). I just saw a video entitled something like "I surprised my husband with the puppy he has always wanted", and that was a fine video, too. I’m so sorry that you had to go through all of that trauma, Alvi but you’re such a fighter and you’re a sweet, handsome smart boy who is definitely well loved . I’m so sorry that you lost an eye Alvi but you will always hold a special place in my heart handsome boy. Hope that you’re adjusting to life with one eye you’re one special well loved cat . O zo zielig dat hij overal tegen aan loopt. Mijn kat Harley heeft geen lampenkap op gehad toen zijn oog eruit gehaald werd wel was hij een paar keer ontsnapt (omdat hij meer een buiten kat was) waardoor zijn hechtingen weer open waren gegaan toen heeft hij nietjes erin gekregen en nu gaat het hartstikke goed met hem. Dikke knuffel voor Alvi en beterschap. Groetjes Hester

Geen kap? Met onze dierenarts was daar geen discussie over... Wel terecht, want we moesten er niet aan denken dat die wond weer opengekrabt zou worden.

Poor baby! Don't you wish our cats could understand why we do things to protect their health. You are being wonderful cat parents, and we feel for you having to watch Alvi struggle without understanding wha the cone is for. Oh, I feel for you and Alvi . I had the same experience with both of my cats. The cone is one of the worst, besides giving unwanted medicine. I cross my fingers that the rest goes well. And for all the catlovers, kittytime also has to do with dealing with dramatic illness, besides the good, cuddely times. And caring like Alvi's family does shows what "having" an animal means. All the best. Omy

Poor Alvi. I trust he recovers soon. No doubt you will spoil him until he is back to doing what he loves to do. Coming home is the first good step and of course... he has to check that nothin has changed... but damn that cone for getting it the way 😍😍😍

That cone was a lot worse than we'd expected.... But he is free of it now :)
