Slow-burning version of the Chris Kenner song, reached No. 52 on Billboard Pop charts when released on Leiber & Stoller’s Tiger label in 1964. This version is taken from one of those 70s ‘Original Golden Oldies‘ compilation albums, not sure if this was edited down for the single, it may be a different take ( vocals sound identical, but keyboard sound is different, and second part has trombone solo). Alvin ‘Shine’ Robinson worked mostly as a New Orleans session guitarist (including with Dr John) but had a great rough-edged bluesy voice, with more than a touch of Ray Charles. Flipside of this was a great version of The Coasters ‘Searchin’ ,; probably his other best known recordings are the wonderfully loping ‘Down Home Girl’ (covered by The Rolling Stones), and his version of Earl King’s ‘Come On’ titled ‘Let The Good Times Roll’.
I do not own this material
