LIFE Bridging the Gap has worked to improve the oak environments in 30 different Swedish Natura 2000 areas. Here are some of the things done in the project. Restored oak habitats to pastures and meadows. Set up wood mould boxes to improve for the hermit beetle, Osmoderma eremita. Set up stag beetle habitat piles to improve for the stag beetle, Lucanus cervus. Veteranised trees. Planted a large number of trees and bushes. Reared and reintroduced the great capricorn beetle, Cerambyx cerdo.
