But it's more fun to not check them and gamble that it'll be alright! 😂

is that with the lifter full of oil? and cant many be done at the same time?

The lifter is not full of oil since the motor has not been run. But it is on the spring that keeps the cup seated. As long as you are light with the touch when threading down the rocker, you won't depress the lifter and be able to get a good preload.

@@paragonengines1924 .......i was under the impression the lifter had to be "soaked" in oil, (not the engine running) to get a good reading on the preset?
@paragonengines1924
@paragonengines1924 8 месяцев назад
@@keything8487 Not with todays lifters. The tight tolerances can cause the lifter to "lock up" if they are soaked in oil.

How do you feel about stock Ls3 valves in the 821 heads? I bought a set of low milage bare 821 heads. I need valves. I've been told to stay away from the stock Gm valves. The tulip likes to break off and destroy your engine. I called BTR and talked to someone. He said he had never heard of it happening unless there was some kind of a failure like over heating it badly. Which from what I've heard and researched the seat drops from over heating. I'm not building a race engine but she will see some burnouts. And a bit of redlining.

Stock valves are fine. The only ones that I have seen break are the LS7 exhaust valves. I have never seen a stock LS3 valve break or a seat come out of a GM head. You should be just fine.
