thumb up, John is a good teacher. I agree with his teaching that the Antichrist will promise and bring in peace and safety. Also, remember that the peace and safety will only be for a short time. The Tribulation - the worst time in all of human history, as our Lord Jesus tells us, will come right after that short time of peace and safety. I think there is something that our good teacher John, and so many others, overlook. They teach that the sequence of events is - the church is raptured, almost immediately the 70th week of Daniel begins with the Antichrist making a 7 year peace covenant with Israel, and this is the beginning of the Tribulation - and the Tribulation will last for the entire 70th week of Daniel and it will be the worst time in all of human history. The teaching is that the church will never see the Antichrist. They will be gone before he is revealed. There are several problems with this sequence of events. In order for the Antichrist to make a covenant with Israel he must be a person of power and authority to do such a thing. He will not pop up like a mushroom overnight when the rapture happens. There will be a period of time during which he will rise to power. The Antichrist will deceive and pressure Israel into giving up land to her enemies as part of a two state solution. It will be a two state trap. It will be based on lies and deceit. This already happened when Israel gave up the land of Gaza for peace. Israel should have learned her lesson from the deadly mistake of giving away Gaza. What could deceive and pressure Israel into making the same mistake again? If the Antichrist will promise to let Israel rebuild her temple perhaps that will do it ! So, how in the world can the AC get the enemies of Israel to stop fighting ? This could do it - tell the leaders of the enemies of Israel - I have a plan that will destroy all Israel once and for all. It will be the final solution. We will push them into the sea and wipe them off the map. We will promise them peace and give them peace for a short while so they can build their temple. It will be a trap. They will think true peace has come and we will catch them off guard. When they finish the temple and have the dedication ceremony then we will attack. So, how long would it take to build the temple? Perhaps 3 1/2 years. There would be peace the first half of the 7 years while Israel is building the temple and her enemies are preparing for invasion. What our Lord Jesus tells us in Mark chapter 13 fits this scenario. 14 “So when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house. 16 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 17 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 18 And pray that your flight may not be in winter. 19 For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been The Abomination of Desolation happens in the middle of Daniel's 70th week. There is peace leading up to that time. The Jews are living in peace in the 'West Bank.' But Jesus warns them to flee for their lives because the Tribulation is about to begin and the time of peace and safety is coming to an end. The rapture happens sometime before the Abomination of Desolation, maybe even right at the same moment. That would be before the Tribulation begins. So the common teaching called the pre-trib raptue is true but there is a misunderstanding about when the Tribulation begins. Our Lord Jesus tells us here in Mark 13 it begins at the time of the Abomination of Desolation - not at the beginning of Daniel's 70th week - that first 3 1/2 years will be a time of peace and safety (a trap being set.)
