First thing I did when I bought my GSA was to have it wrapped, including the windshield and the headlight. Not the same amount of protection, granted, but enough to prevent small chips. The GSA being white, the dust isn’t that apparent on it like on the R Nine T, which is black. Not to mention that every little scratch looks horrendous on black paint. So, I had the R Nine T polished and wrapped, too. It’s a simple way to protect the paint on the long run, especially if you’re getting the bike for life. ;)
Very good idea! Protect it from the beginning and it makes such a difference! Preventative rather than correcting the problem down the line. Especially with the cost of these headlights nowadays haha!
I can confirm it can be a pain in the backside getting those last few droplets with a towel! I've got the Bruhl air dryer which makes an easy job of it thankfully! The rain-ex made a big difference to most of it all beading and running off!
I was thinking about that, wondered if it would look really good! Would match the surrounding plastic. The Headlights are so good though so would want to make sure they still work well!
It is difficult to get to but I find using a stream of water, then getting a drying towel between the two works well. I use a Bruhl bike dryer too but I know that's not common. It does add 5 minutes to every clean!
I’ve never covered my headlight but then I never ride off road and that’s maybe the difference. I did consider it a few years ago seemed the thing to do. I’ve ridden for over forty years and never had a broken headlight. At the time I was driving a Mercedes’ and the headlights were hideously expensive if they were broken, luckily they never were but made me think if I don’t cover them maybe I don’t need to cover the bike, or maybe it was just laziness and incompetence with tools that put me off👍
Very true! I've never had a broken headlight but riding off-road with friends, I'd rather have it and not need it, than the other way around. Also... when you look at the price of these LED light clusters, I'd rather have it on than have to fork out haha! I suppose these are more peace of mind! Thanks for watching!
It is for cooling on some of the models, but it doesn't go through like the superduke does so no impact on cooling. There's also a gap between the light and cover so plenty of airflow still
❤ Great video, but just wondering if is really necessary if the moto is only used on road? What can damage it? Do you also ever think to change the turn signals light in led "only bulbs"?
Thank you! I use this off road quite a lot but a stone being thrown up by a car tyre or something can do damage or crack the headlight. The turn signals are LED already
@@SamVBikes just checked my turn lights and are regular, not led... 😭😭😭 I've the 2023 model 🤷🏻♂️ Other question, today my left shoe lace got destroyed in the chain while driving, any cover you can suggest? Thank you Andrea
Are you in the USA? I know a lot of bikes get halogen lights instead of LED when imported. Not sure on the reason. Amazon do some shifter boot covers which I've used in the past. I don't really have laces on my motorcycle boots for that reason, and if I do they are shorter laces so don't hand down
@@SamVBikes thank you for your reply, yes I'm in the USA, I was trying to see only the cambus bulb, but I couldn't find 😢 I will definitely change shoes 😅
Hi Sam where did you get your headlight protector from I need the same as you mine is also a 22 model and it is the fast black one like yours😁😁many thanks love your videos mate
Hey! Sorry just found your comment.. YT had filtered it as a 'Likely Spam' comment which is confusing! It's the Powerparts one from KTM. It's around £80 if I remember rightly but it fits well and looks neat! Thanks for watching
So far I've not noticed any real difference in lighting. I do wonder if the cornering lights aren't as effective due to the way the plastic is moulded but I haven't really ridden on very dark roads since fitting it to test.
Who are you meeting in a dark alley to get these parts? Twitches: Hey bro you got any of them headlight protectors. Haha Literally can't get anything dealer aftermarket at the moment. Everything for my new Tracer has been out of stock for months.
Hope so otherwise I'm going to start riding into Europe to pick parts up haha! There's a few bits that have gone on already like rear brake res protection etc. Ive got a long list which is all dependent on me winning the Lottery haha! Exhaust, laced wheels, new knobbly tyres, upper Crash bars, denali spot lights and a few more! Still need to get a topbox rack for it too!
Definitely. Yes Arrow have their new 'Sonora' slip on but I'm hoping in the new year there will be a few sites selling it at less than £780!! I was lucky with some of my parts but still awaiting others!
