The gold medal-winning "Final Five" are back in the U.S. The Team USA gymnasts open up to Dana Jacobson about the incredible experience, fierce competition, and boys on CBSN.
I look back at this and think about how close they were. Like sisters, as they said. Yet they were all suffering quietly, probably wondering if the other girls were going through the same thing. Aly especially-her impact statement will always be one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever heard.
Gabby dear....gushhhhh....your beauty and persona just command respect... I now see why jealous persons could not resist, but to make noise. Girl you are Blessed. Wow.
I agree whole heartedly.....ppl never can imagine what it must b like to be in an Olympic situation....ie., the hand on heart situation during the nat'l anthem.....and the comments about her hair during the competition.....jeez....are ppl really interested in her hair? We,, look at it now.....pure perfection!!!😉
+coleyy793 Omggg ikr I thought that all the time about maddie! its ok to be reserved you don't always have to be bubbly sometimes it comes off fake..I'd rather be me and be happy than try to please everyone .people who don't even know me for that.
i dont think madison can because she is doing college gymnastics, and i doubt gabby will, and laurie gave up college eligibility to go pro so i think laurie will come back and simone probably and maybe aly
I think Madison can, she just can't be a professional athlete, be on a college team, and accept scholarships. But I read somewhere that she won't train for 2020 anyways. We might see Simone and Laurie but I doubt we will see Gabby or Aly. Gabby didn't even act like she was excited to be at the games and I read that Aly's coach doesn't want to do another four years with her. She will also be 26 by then, so I wouldn't count on it but it's not impossible.
No doubt Simone will try for 2020 unless she gets injured same with laurie I guess. Gabby will retire she didn't even look happy about making it to Rio. By the next olympics aly will be reasonably old and I don't know if she will be able to make it another four years. Will Maddie who knows I think she wanted to go to college? But with so many good juniors and new seniors and only 4 on a team it's going to be even harder to make the team.
I love how the reporter is like "those abs though, everyone's jealous" and Aly's all, "yeah, well, we don't just have them to show off in bikinis..." it's sort of important to have core strength in order to not break out backs? Lol
people are saying aly will be too old for Tokyo but she is better at 21 or 22 i forget than she was at 18 and people said she was too old then and she came back better than london also if u look at her documentary she was terrible but now she is azing so i think if she really wants to go to Tokyo i think she can.
2018 update: Simone's training should compete at US Classic this summer, Laurie keeps saying she wants too, but I'm not sure how serious she is about it. Maddies a sophomore at UCLA, but I doubt she'd go back to pro considering how watered down her routines are and I'm pretty sure she's serious about medical school so I think she's moving on with her life. Gabby has been MIA and I would be shocked if she starts up again. And finally our lord and savior Aly Raisman is using her platform to speak out against USAG and it's abuse, and has said she cares about that more than competing at the olympics again.
If Vanessa Ferrari participated at 25 and Catalina Ponor won a medal at 25 in London 2012 , aly can do it at 26?? I know that would be too difficult 'cause USA have good coaches and good gymnasts and she would have to compete against young people but I hope to see her in Tokyo... it would be a pleasure. She is an amazing gymnast and she had too much potential. 😊
Aly is the second best women's gymnast in the world. If she continues her strict training regimen she can repeat. I hope Simone selects Nastia Luikin's dad as her new trainer. She seems destined for a great 2020.
You think wrong. Aly is retired and I think Gabby is as well. Madison is competing in college now so I doubt she goes either. The only ones might be Hernandez and Biles for sure as long as she doesn't get injured.
Madison looks like she is just tired of doing interviews. Lol. She will speak up to favorite celebrity, Carrie Underwood. Otherwise, it is total silence most of the time..she is my favorite. Lol...hahahah
Yep but no one got on her or made a big deal about it like they did Gabby. Madison and Gabby are two reserved ones but only one is given the media axe.
Aly Aly Aly can't you see Sometimes your hips just hypnotize me And I just love your flashy ways Guess that's why they broke, and you're so paid (uh)- Notorious B.I.G. reprise lyrics
Angel Ruiz I think Simone Biles and Laurie Hernandez have the best shots at coming back. Madison is a specialist and typically those are the least likely to come back. If her uneven bars slips even a little bit with time, there will be plenty of gymnasts ready to bump her out in four years.
There are no facts to prove that other gymnasts would have performed at her level......Who or what ever gave you that idea..... Any of the Final Five could fall short of the standard in four years.....
Aly Raisman & the rest of the Final Five is a disrespect title. Simone is the superstar of this team. When Michael Phelps win his relays, no one ever title such & such and the rest of the 4×??? relay team (Phelps being 1 of the others).
Age isn't a factor, Phelps got the praised at each Olympic event he & his teammates excelled in together & his individual performance which landed him into superstardom. Simone Biles is the breakout star of this team, not Aly Raisman.
MagicKirin1 Gabby couldn't do what? She made it to her 2nd Olympics winning team gold...Her 1st Olympics she actually won AA gold NOT silver...Don't do the comparison. Gabby became the first AA champion to return and make her 2nd Olympics team...She did what she was set out to do...And that was to make history.
4 out of 5 girls in this team were sexually abused by their team doctor. They suffer from the consequences of politics in sports. The heads of US gymnastics (Karyolis) were known abusers who put the young girls through intense physical pain and injuries to get those medals, many girls before them cracked from that pressure. At least people have stable jobs and salaries, one injury later these gymnasts could be long forgotten
do they study as well as train? coz it's funny how They say they can't have a social life since they work for 6 hours a day? guess the rest of the working population doesn't have a social life either
They have to sleep more than the average person too. They have to rest during the day. Also a lot of them have to a day practices so they spend time driving in between their gym and home. Plus I've heard all their parents say they have responsibilities at home like chores.
I agree. She will be old for the sport. Gabby I think barely made this team so I suspect she is out too. Simone Biles and Laurie Hernandez have the best shots at coming back.
