This program is part of our Good Lit series, underwritten by the Bernard Osher Foundation.
Do you ever wish you had a blueprint for navigating some of life's toughest spaces, including relationships, friendships or your job? Alyssa Mastromonaco might have the answers. Since her years as a key member of the Obama administration, Mastromonaco has since become a media powerhouse with notable roles at companies such as Vice Media, Marie Claire Magazine and, most recently, A&E Networks. Along the way, she’s learned hard but incredibly valuable lessons that she’s ready to share with the world. From Congress to tech to Hollywood, being a woman in the workplace comes with challenges, but Mastromonaco is here to help you see a path for yourself.
Join Mastromonaco’s return to INFORUM on the heels of the release of her newest book, So Here's the Thing… Notes on Growing Up, Getting Older, and Trusting Your Gut. The book includes personal stories, interviews with some of the world’s most recognizable and hardworking women, and of course, Mastromonaco’s distinct sense of humor. She will offer tips and tricks she picked up during her illustrious career and offer advice on how to become (or support!) a modern woman on your own terms. Mastromonaco will be in conversation with her friend and former colleague in the Obama administration, Dan Pfeiffer.

i love how she curls up in the chair and makes it all cosy -- the tone for 'panels' like these is always set by the folk on the stage and these two obviously set out to make this a comfortable, intimate-like share-with semiconversation for their very fortunate audience -- having read (or listened to, rather) both their first books i have to say it's just very them and a privilege to be given these looks into their rapport and friendship alongside the context of and in contrast with the sheer hectic professional lives wrt working in the white house (and those little anecdotes about how their boss who was also their friend appreciated and knew them well enough to show his appreciation in the little ways and such -- looking forward to getting hold of both their second books..! (..but yes, the shoes on the furniture bothered me too ahhaha ^^";;; /asian; shoes don't get past the entryway in most households where i live ^^";;; (also th, the upholstery's .white. ermagerd /o\ XDD" ))

Watching this 4 months into quarantine with an out-of-control global pandemic is heartbreaking & petrifying - and also helps explain SO MUCH about why we're in a semi-dystopian reality with no tangible end in sight.

I agree 100% with Alyssa on marijuana legalization and guiding the development of the industry so that it doesn’t become another heartless corporation .

I agree with the philosophy , but putting your dirty shoes on white fabric to barrier your gut while having a conversation about the gut, is beyond distracting. Better an audio podcast. can’t watch.

I do not like her how she sits.
@barrettzbrowning

Sitting in that position is so entirely inappropriate for a former asst COS, even for a stoner Deadhead. Referring to President Obama as “Barack Obama” is also taking the constant meme of disrespect from Repugs and Fox. Now all we hear every day is t referenced as “the president” BY ALL SIDES! If you are given an opportunity and visibility to correct that disrespect, why not take it? Reading the two books by this author, as well as listening to the rest of the crew on their podcast, give the distinct impression that one of the key problems of the Obama Administration was the informality and lack of mature and wise advice Mr. Obama solicited. Also: Why is this conversation about Jennifer Aniston and not the accomplishments of the administration? Wasn’t the presence of Valerie Jarrett on the White House lawn enough weakness and damage? Someone, please, talk about the fact that all $700B of TARP was fully repaid!

Oh please. Lighten up. She had the rank of a three-star general. She can sit however she wants.
