Che meraviglioso. This is one of my favorite Verdi arias.When I was very young I was very fortunate to see this piece sung by the wonderful Italian baritone,Ettore Bastianini. Grazie mille for sharing this with us. It is just beautiful.

Fantastic music you make. Thank you for supporting us singers. Just a little tip about thie particular aria. The tempo, especially in the first part after recitativo is a bit slower, and must give room to inhale properly for those long frases. Andante sostenuto, but it is rather sostenuto, and from the cantilena part you give the intro beautifully but it must be calmed down just a bit afterwards. Try to sing yourself when you prepare it, you are going to have perfect results. Best regards, and i follow your channel since I am a baritone and find your work very useful. that is great. I will do so but in the meantime, my library here does not have the barenreiter score for this opera and I would like to have the sheet music for this aria from the barenreiter (I use another one now). Might you be able to get your hands on the barenreiter one perhaps?
Maybe! The thing is..I don't have all the scores where I'm doing the videos. And at the moment a lot lot lot work at the theater. That's why I ask the people to mail the scores...it really saves my time...
I disagree, if you know the aria well it is absolutely no problem to pick up the tempo as the pianist is conducting so incredibly well with looks and small gestures. Instead of dull karaoke singing you really get the feeling of making music together. Thank you so much, Maestra! PS: I love the intense and fluid tempo.
