When I bought mine there wasn't an exhaust shield. I still have the factory heat shield that covers the exhaust really good. I have never had a problem. The only problem I did have was I didn't trim the plastic enough, it chewed threw the cover over 500miles. After trimming the plactic more it was fine.
@@NorthernYellowRhino that's what I thought, I have the Mr rpm aluminum back plate on mine it beings the cover further out so I shouldn't have an issue
