Thank you for your on going support Cynthia, some very good finds again this time but I am now sure that the Roman activity is confined to the top part of the field.
Hey Percy my Garrett brother. 👋🏻😃 A great haul and some nice silver including a nice Willy. 😉 Start of the show is the Road Orb Nuremberg Krauwinckel jettton, exactly the same as mine!! 😃 Thanks for sharing, take care and power to the people. 😉👍🏻
Hello again Deano my Garrett brother. The jetton amazes me that it is in such fantastic condition and not bent in any way. I really can't fault my Garrett at all. Switch on and find cool things... why make things complicated?
Happy New year Percy another cracking episode with some lovely finds, the Jetton was a nice find as was the gold plated item, i would say watch winder. Well done on the silver Hammered and the other coins.
Thanks Bill and Julie, it's a very quiet field but has truly wonderful fields dotted about here and there. I must be patient and they will come my way.
Happy New Year Percy mate! Some cracking finds as always pal, and the jetton is a beaut! Plenty more to come off those fields mate. Hope you had a great festive season! All the best my friend
Hi Percy , some cracking finds there pal as for a Roman hot spot i don't think i have ever had one that's Luke warm never mind hot 😂 anyway well done i hope it continues for you ATB Rob .
It’s the Percy show! Really enjoying the show too mate. Hammered looked Tudor or one of the Henry. That William is defo a shilling forgery mate. The Roman stuff from Experience can sound really iffy and scratchy with low numbers on the vdi so dig anything half worth digging especially in wet conditions. Loads more to come from the Roman section I’d say but will take some work to get it out. Next song for your live stream should be by Wet Wet Wet lol😂
Wet Wet Wet indeed Dale, towards the bottom of the field is like slopping about in a muddy pond right now. Thanks for the advice on Roman signals, I will definitely be returning to the top part of the field to 2nd grid it once I have finished at the bottom.
Thanks for the information Matthew. Virtually all silver coins I have found come up either gleaming or with a black tarnish. This coin threw me completely to the extent that I thought it was copper alloy.
You ruined the coins by polishing them. Any numismatic value is gone. It is worth scrap copper or silver price now. Best way to clean a coin without destroying the value is soak it in Olive Oil for a few months, when ready pull them out and soak the oil in hot soapy water to get oil off them and then pat them dry. What happens when you find that million dollar coin go home and polish the Million dollars off it and make it a $50,000 coin??? Yes there are coins worth a over million dollars. A few are from Great Britton. Please for the love of all things Holy don't polish, use a metal wire brush, tumble them in a rock polisher or anything other than what I said. It is sad to see what has been done to them. I see this a lot with metal detector people. They find it with a beep, dig it up, rub the dirt all over it, take it home and destroy it by polishing them.
Thanks for your feedback Spagsketti, your points are well noted my friend. Anything I clean is very low value and even in extra fine condition worth under $100. Most of what I find would only be worth under $10 in field find condition and having so much wear. I do not like the residue built up on detected bronze coins so clean them in a way that I think is sympathetic revealing the high tones and leaving patina on the background. None of my finds are ever for sale and remain in my collection as I like to present them. If however, I ever do find anything of great financial value rest assured that I will not clean it in any way other than a light spray of water. I do understand that high value items must stay as found and declared to the relevant authorities. I hope that this reply slightly puts your mind at rest as to my thought process on my finds. Happy New Year to you, kind regards Percy.
