She a great kid. I grabbed my face in pain when she dropped that squat attempt. Thank GOD she was not hurt. She would put this man to shame and deadlifts are my exercise favourite. Great job all.
dog she pushed him strategically to see which leg was going to react to catch him. Then she coached him based on him going to his right leg naturally. That's genius this little girl is a savage.
She's insane. You can tell the people around her aren't just coaching her through the motions, she's learning the why (she's either asking the questions or they're making it a point that she understands). Either way, it's just so endearing to see.
Hearing her say she eats a lot of candy (7:00) made me feel really good. Lots of times kids like this are forced into it by their parents and they never allow the kid a moment of joy, but it was very clear that she truly enjoys what she is doing, both by her energy while doing the lifts as well as the encouragement and teaching she gave to Will along the way. Truly inspirational
with these types of kids, they can have parents on the opposite ends of the spectrum, one side being controlling like those beauty pageant parents or support supportive while still pushing them to their limits in a positive way, admittedly the line between the two is thin and difficult to maintain without slipping to the other side sometimes. very typical when these types of kids grow up and tell the world about their trauma. just because she has some candy doesnt mean everything is hunkeydorey, but hopefully it is
Besides her strength, I think what is most impressive is her eloquence at 10. I swear I had almost no social etiquette or ability to express myself so clearly at 10
Being a 4x national champion she's undoubtedly had hundreds of interviews, meetings and spent a lot of time talking to a lot of people. Girl's had practice
The fact that she can deadlift a weight that is heavier than him himself is mind boggling to me. What an awesome kid, I hope she has an amazing future ahead of her.
I was not half this chill and well-balanced at 10 years old, I tell you what I was a flapping mess. This kid is going places, and she's already showing really good coaching skills to boot
The internet and teaching of parents are strong intelligence comes quicker now faster than last generation. Before they mainly had books. Now the internet so strong so powerful. Maturing quicker shouldn't be uncommon. I was rather calm at 10 from a poor kid getting moved around learned so much. And still the number 1 rule your mental is more important than your physical.
@@lolicongang.4974 Bro most kids do tiktok from 1 years old and cant even speak properly anymore and are becoming artificially autistic . This is a huge problem in my country . There are 7/8 years old that if you ask them what is your mothers name , they just say mama cuz their brains a fried . Internet is not exacly powerful in the good way .
@@JonModafokin1The internet can provide the potential to do a lot of good and a lot of bad for kids. It's effective in spreading knowledge whether it be good or bad. Having young kids scrolling all day on tiktok is something I definitely think is oftentimes harmful, but sometimes they may encounter media with good role models or different perspectives to consider. Whereas before, for better or worse, kids were more influenced by only their familial spheres.
That moment she said "I eat a lot of candy" made me feel so happy. that she's doing this because SHE wants to and not influenced by parents who force her to train/eat a certain way.
Another armchair psychologist 👌 The father of this girl is very hooked on her becoming the star. I'm not saying she's not happy but you should never rule out possibilities simply because you're seeing a very heartwarming and wholesome story and it makes you happy.
Will always tries to be sarcastically competitive in order to stay comfortable with new people, but she’s so genuinely nice and straightforward it’s hilarious😂
Rory's sweet and kind nature just shows the positive environment she has been in throughout her training. Her letting Will go first and cheering to pump him up before he went? So sweet!
Will is genuinely impressed by this kid. I think it's not only the strength, but she's just such a calm kid, that probably helps a lot to not "Clark it" She doesn't freak out, just lets her body speak, and that's something most people take a long time to learn.
There's no way any kid acts like that at ten unless given drugs. You have to wonder what these "parents" and "doctors" are giving these "poor kids." If you ever observe an unusually calm nine to eleven year old, then that should be an automatic red flag. It's a shame that parents enjoy living vicariously through their kids, often to the point of harming their health, but that's 2023 for you. People actually think a 10 year old girl lifting that much is "healthy" and "totally natural" when even most grown men can't lift anywhere near as much as that.
@@ruslanibragimov4991 like you legit just pulled that from your ass I train BJJ and we have 7/10 year olds training who are focused, driven little champions. Some kids are just bred different.
@@marcocossu6628 If she can lift that much, then she DEFINITELY is. No fault of her own since her parents/coach/doctor introduced her to it, but still has lifelong consequences as it's not healthy.
@@ruslanibragimov4991 Ive been medicated since 7 or 8, its not such a big deal for kids to take drugs LOL. It made me "unusually" calm. Also assume you mean steroids which is even funnier cause just look at her bro. You just sound jealous when you are blowing up all the comments too.
100% she is a future Olympic Medallist / Champion. 275lbs deadlift is hard to comprehend, ask 100 random guys on the street to do that and maybe 10% get it.
People in physical Jobs will most likely be able to get it, gym people too but regular Office job people that arent doing sports will struggle. 275 is not leightweight
I have recently got back into deadlifting after a long time off, and lifted that the other day. It was heavy. I'm an adult man. This child has otherworldly strength.
@@spirit959ful Correct. If you do not lift or do anything physical regularly a 200lb guy is not picking that up. On the internet of course it is "Light weight"
@@nasty2168 it's perfectly healthy. It's probably way healthier than the average kid because she's much stronger and more flexible, and that translates to her body being an injury prevention machine. Kids tend to do activities that are prone to injury, so this will definitely help with that. And add to that the skill and proprioception required to perform Olympic lifts, she'll grow up to be an expert of body control and movement.
@@taoist32To add to this, when you hear things like it can "stunt your growth" or injure growth plates etc. These are the risks associated with ANY sport. Weightlifting is no more dangerous for kids than other sports.
That girl is already incredible, can you imagine another 10-12 yrs, my god!!! And she is on a track to be an incredible mentor and teacher to boot... hope she keeps her health and passion, wherever she chooses to take it
Yeah, but what is going to happen when she is adult and some pervert LGBTQI+ pedo changes their sex and destroys any record this girl could have achived in women's sports because they are a mediocue man but and exceptional women.
@@LordMaskin dude. wtf. you know that trans women have been accepted in the olympics since 2004 and the first one to compete in weight lifting (and at all iirc??) was not until 2021. And she didn't even place.
sadly, it would be harder for her to lift her body weight as she gets older. Yes , she would get stronger, but also heavier. And her weight would grow faster than her strength. That happened to my younger siblings too.
This little girl is incredible. I hope she continues on this path and remains healthy, will be so cool to see her represent the USA as an adult one day.
To be honest she probably won't even be an adult by the time she's ready to represent the US in open competition. I can imagine her doing it as a 15/16 year old.
I think that this should probably just be declared a “no contest”. It was clearly completely unfair. Poor Will didn’t stand a chance. She is truly phenomenal.
Love how Rory was shy at the beginning; then she just giggled at your squats; lovely duo, Will you made her feel at ease really fast, can definitely tell she enjoyed the workout
A clear demonstration of the value of helping your kids learn to struggle in the pursuit of excellence. What a special young lady she is. Great video, Will!
It's not a fair comparison because of the square cube law. Small insects can lift 1000+ times their body weight, and leap 1000+ times their body length. It's not because they are exceptionally strong, it's just physics. As Rory gets larger, her relative weight lift will diminish as well. Rory is impressive, but you shouldn't feel down because you can't match her relative weight lift.
@@peezieforestem5078 You beat me to it. Also leverages, kids have shorter limbs that give them a mechanical advantage. On top of all that sumo is easy!
Just for more perspective, as a fellow female lifter who has been consistently lifting for 6 years, currently 160lbs, I was stoked to hit a deadlift PR of 250 recently. Rory is an elite athlete. Awesome video!
Rory is AMAZING! And what a sweetheart cheering Will on and still being a supportive coach even though they're competing. This girl's gonna go far! I also LOVE that we aren't minimising her achievements by referencing her gender - she's not "strong for a girl", she's JUST STRONG! 👏
It’s so impressive, not just her physical ability but also her mindset. I haven’t seen any kid like lifting weight. Football, basketball, swimming, running… but not weightlifting.
Rory did amazingly well. TBH she was not far off beating Will on actual weight on the C&J if it was judged on competition. She lifted 135 cleanly but his 190 would have failed as he pressed it up. Shows how much is technique as opposed to muscling it up. Most impressive bit to me was when she failed the 225 squat ( 100KG ) and just threw it off her shoulders with no fear.
This is so cute! I love the inter generational bond in this. I can tell a lot of your positive energy is rubbing off on Rory and vice versa. She will become a positive fitness inspiration for many in years to come.
Been watching her for years on Instagram. It's incredible to see her progress and her coaching staff. She has great coaches, supportive folks all around her and she's a really inspiring kiddo! Keep it up Rory! Great guest to host on your show Will!
@@santoslozano7518as cool as it is that this kid is so dedicated to her hobby I find it unsettling that children younger than 10 are allowed to be on instagram and post images of themselves. It can really endanger them
When you make this “fair” (which you can never really do), this girl is an elite athlete. Also a prodigy with real discipline and the correct attitude. She’d only ever lose to people of the same level.
I’m so glad Rory is as good as she is at what she does. Not only is she lifting heavier than I do at 1/3 of my weight, but she’s also gonna grow up and become such an influence on all the other young girls in the world!
Im not afraid to say it, shes stronger than me😂 This is crazy impressive and all the people in the comments saying "I could lift more" yall are weirdos.
I know everyone is applauding her on her maturity but while it is definitely admirable I still do hope she gets some time to play with friends and just be a kid. It would help her too in the long run :)
@@Therealbdsfitness Children need time to be children for their psycho-social development. Play is *good* for you, at any age, but is especially crucial when only 10 years old.
To date, no 10 year old world-renowned strongman, weightlifter, powerlifter, or bodybuilder has had a healthy adolescence or adulthood. Remember Richard Sandrak?
@@ruslanibragimov4991 I'm pretty sure this is generally true for child prodigies across disciplines - classical musicians, chess players, mathematics, etc, and certainly also in the performing arts such as dance, singing, theatre and film acting. It's not surprising, really.
@@19guyswithcutboxers23 - Powerlifting/bodybuilding and professional sports is different than those disciplines you listed. Unfortunately, today in order to become a professional elite athlete, 99% if not 100% are on some type of gear. It´s necessary to be competitive with your teammates who are all juiced along with their elite genetics. I worked at a gym where a player from the Kansas City Chiefs used to train. He told me that every single player was on juice. Then he said in the league there may be a wide receiver here or there they may not be on juice because they´re tall or insanely fast...but this conversation was over 20 years ago. Today, I´m pretty sure all elite athletes are juiced, except maybe golf...even golfers are on TRT.
@@904_theo2 Exactly... "Discipline" actually means to teach🙂,it's not being mean or anything inappropriate like that.Healthy childrearing is a balance between showing your unconditional ❤️ & applying discipline as needed and you tailor this balance to each individual child based upon their unique temperament/needs.Beware of ANY adult that meanly says "I need to discipline you!" to kids under their care,yells/screams at them,etc...That is NOT actual "discipline" & those are psychologically &/or physically abusive types😬.Too many people get it twisted & 💭 that discipline somehow means being mean, out of control, using brutal punishments, etc.
@daveh71 Um....you do realize that weightlifting is a sport for men and by men? Thus, any girl in the sport, especially one made to do it by her parents, is in fact "woke". You really think girls were lifting heavy weights at ten in the 1800s?
I can't even imagine how you felt, inspired but also failing those sets and still trying to ve so so positive and funny in the video!! You are amazing!!

Loved this! Been watching your videos since the beginning and this is the first one my 6 year old daughter actually sat and watched the entire thing with me. She couldn't believe how strong Rory was, I kept telling her for her size she's lifting way more than you and she was amazed. Wow, Rory, you are an absolute powerhouse! At just 10 years old, you're achieving feats that most adults can only dream of. Your dedication and hard work in weightlifting are truly remarkable, and it's no surprise that you're the four-time youth U.S. national champion.
