Telltale did the very best origin story of all the villains in Gotham with Arkham. Bruce Wayne had to deal with a revelation that his wealthy father created the problem that killed him and obsessed Bruce into becoming a vigilante. It spins the entire idea of Batman into a cycle of violence rather than a heroic crusade.

Bruce trauma-dumping like he hasn't moved on from his childhood is probably pretty realistic given how Elon Musk is a real-life billionaire who acts like a child.

In the comics (sorry gonna be a nerd), he literally does hire some would-be criminals and give them good jobs rather than let them just be poor and mentally unwell.

One of my favorite bits in this is how Batman and Catwoman know each other's secret right off the top. Makes the relationship fun when they start as equals.

This game is awesome. Be the version of Batman you want to be. The way the cast of characters and villains are utilized is unique and underrated. Also, the theme song for this game is beautiful.

hasan i get that you're trying to apply our real world logic here but it kinda doesn't work cause you know, gotham is not a real place, and it's borderline supernatural sure, billionaires are bad, monopoly is bad, capitalism is bad. but also no city irl is that fucked up and corrupted. and when i say corrupted, i mean practically every person in power. one guy can't overthrow capitalism, whether he is a billionaire or batman, so--if gotham is that fucked up, cursed even, no matter how often you change politicians--is it the worst thing that one guy with actual good intentions and will to treat workers well (that we can presume) is holding so much power? obviously that's still not great cause no person should hold so much power, but this is astronomically far from your average irl billionaire situation and don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean that batman shouldn't be criticized as a concept or when it comes to specific writing (they do love writing him as an ubermensch super cop don't they), he's far from perfect--he's a complex character that has his own conflicting motivations, and i'd argue out of all superheroes he's the most interesting one for that. my man is mentally ill, he's struggling with ptsd and survivor's guilt, he's obsessive and generally has ocd symptoms, he's emotionally repressed, he sublimates shit with violence and self-sabotages regularly--there's a lot to be discussed here, he's one fucked up guy. actually, one of my favorite interpretations is from arkham asylum comic (1989), which questions unethical psychiatric practices and definition of sanity (also some queer stuff as well, especially if you read grant morrison's notes)--and yeah, batman chooses to free the patients instead of just beating and locking them up

Batman is the ultimate superhero and represents the very best in humanity. Yeah there are edgelord version that dont make sense but for the most part he's just a demigod who saves everything everyday. There's nothing to hate.
