I did look at that. It didn't have must of a difference. What did, was making sure the windings only took up 2/3 of the circumference. Any more and stray capacitance starts to reduce the stop band attenuation. In my case that was around 10dB.

@@CharlieMorrisZL2CTM that's quite interesting, as I would have thought that it must be only a few picofarads.

Thanks. I used 22g in this case. I had some left over from a previous build so just used that. 24g would have been fine too.

@@CharlieMorrisZL2CTM What is the unit "g"? A. weight in grams per some unit of length? B. American Wire Gauge (AWG)? C. Standard Wire Gauge (SWG)? or D. Something else entirely? Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just leveraging what was presented by Paul NA5N at the 2002 Atlanticon QRP Froum. It works for me.

A half wave filter exists, it is mentioned in Solid State Design for the Radio Amateur, Experimental methods for RF Design and possibly the ARRL handbooks.
