In this video I show a new combo with River Birch, Wasabi and Textured Turquoise. (Please forgive the heat gun, it will be edited out in time lapse better next time) Beautiful bowls in an easy to recreate process. You’ll LOVE these bowls!

To me time is not the critical factor, quality of the content is what is most important. I’ve wasted my time on 8 minute videos and spent every last second on a great one hour plus one. Your videos are of excellent quality, with an informative and approachable style. I can go and try doing what you show right afterwards. That is well worth my time. Thank you.

I trim the bottom of my pots like you do. I will add those lines to help slow down runny glazes. Your work is just beautiful. I love that glaze. I go to a studio and it is fun. I would though love to have a studio of my own. Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas. I subscribed. I will look at more of your work.

I’m sure someone has replied to you about the chunks in the glaze but just in case they haven’t the chunks are crystals that burst and melt when in the kiln. The best way to be sure to get the crystals is to use a spoon to scrape the bottom so when you shake the glaze the crystals get incorporated into the glaze. If they settle really fast I just scoop some out with a spoon and apply them with a brush with the last coat! Thank you sooooo much for your videos!! I’d love to see a tour of your space. I’m so glad your wife encouraged you to have your own space to do your pottery!

I love the combo. I am originally from Arkansas, then moved to Idaho in 91. Then got into pottery in 2020 and got hooked. Instead of the Birch, I am going to use Winterwood. I will post a picture when I get done. But thank you for the time you took to show how you applied the glazes.
@healingearthceramics9472
@healingearthceramics9472 6 месяцев назад
I see Winterwood is a matte glaze. It will be interesting to see how that turns out. Would love to see your pics. What I like about River Birch is it is one of Amaco’s flux glazes so as a base it helps everything run together. I hope you are enjoying Idaho. Sounds cold to me 😊.

It is cold but a dry cold. Not very much humid in the summer. I will send pics when it is done.

I love you videos. I just ordered River Birch myself! My daughter and her family live in ARK. and we are planning to move there in the next year or so. Can you give any tips on Art festivals I should attend in Eureka Springs or Mountain Home? I am hoping I can make pottery to supplement our retirement in that area. Thank you for the time and energy you put into your videos!

That is awesome! I’m sure there are plenty of festivals around although I don’t know them specifically. I’d check with the chamber of commerce or Google festivals for each area. Both towns are beautiful places to enjoy.

Viewed your video again.....love that combination. What cone do you fire at....any holding? Thanks in advance!
@healingearthceramics9472
@healingearthceramics9472 2 месяца назад
I fire to cone 6. I have 2 old Duncan manual kilns so there is no hold. I usually go on Low for an hour, move to Medium for around 2 hours then go to High for 2 more hours. At the 5 hour mark I set it on High Fire and let it run till the kiln sitter trips which usually around 5.25 to 5.50 hours. It’s really quick but that’s how my old glaze kiln works. It get’s hot fast and gets the job done. I use my other kiln for bisque because it heats up slower. Hope this helps. Glad you liked the video.

@healingearthceramics9472

I use a fan brush for large areas and the old wooden import brushes for other stuff. I actual have a thick round brush for acrylic paints I got at Hobby Lobby for smaller areas.
