Amager Strandpark parkrun, Copenhagen, Denmark. International parkrun tourism! parkrunning abroad!

Each parkrun territory can choose an extra parkrunday a year for a special celebratory parkrun (plus New Year's Day which all territories are given). In the UK we have Christmas Day but Sweden celebrate their additional parkrun on Swedish National Day. Having never run (or been to Scandanavia) we took the opportunity to parkrun in Denmark and Sweden.
We ran at parkrun Amager Strandpark in Copenhagen on Saturday/parkrunday before heading to Sweden to parkrun again on Monday! Given all the flight chaos in the UK at the moment I was feeling very anxious about this trip but it was worth every single moment of worry as it turned out to be one of the best parkrun experiences I've ever had!
Amager Strandpark is stunningly beautiful and it was an absolute privilege to run there with so many excited parkrun tourists and friendly faces. Huge thanks to Hans and his team for a magical parkrun experience. Our parkrun family is really rather special! I hope this video shows just how much I loved this trip!

If you're going to go though I'd definitely recommend this run next year. Doesn't stop you stressing though! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 I think it's because it's the whole reason for your trip! Can't let these things stop us though. Great video Nicola, it brought back some amazing memories. It's one of the best parkruns and even had people swimming underneath me, which is a first for a parkrun! Wish I'd known about the kayaks, would have loved that.

What a wonderful time! The furthest I’ve been for parkrun is Perth (the Scottish one), but I’m going to Amsterdam in August and I’m planning to parkrun there. This holiday was originally supposed to happen in April 2020…

Hi Nic Nic, thanks for sharing this great video. It brought back so many memories of my Copenhagen parkrun - I did Damhusengen, which was a little quieter than Strandpark, but several simularites. What a beautiful city and how lucky were we with the weather. As you aluded to in the WMN podcast, the run brielf was fantastic. Can't wait to see the Malmo vlog.

I think Vegan Runners are huge now as there's usually a few of the vests whenever I'm at an event 😃 I'm yet to meet a Vegan Runner that's not cheerful and friendly 🥰

What an awesome video! I lived in Denmark for 7 years and never did a parkrun there, but plan to make amends soon. Your video reminded me just how fabulous Denmark is, with wonderful people and gorgeous scenery. I really do miss the country and can't wait to return. Amager Strandpark is my planned run in late July. If you ever return, I recommend visiting Tivoli Gardens!

Great video, Nicola! I loved my trip to Copenhagen before the pandemic although I chose to do Amager Falled parkrun which was lovely too. Managed to see Amager Strandpark the next day and really enjoyed wandering around 💚💚💚 your video is just how I remember it to be 😊

What a great trip Nicola! This reminds me of my only ever overseas parkrun in Poland when I travelled over for a half marathon race and fitted in the parkrun on Saturday. There were about 8 locals and over 40 parkrun tourists 🏆

We loved our parkrun in Poland. Run brief completely in Polish and a small but perfectly formed event! Isn't parkrun tourism the best?! International parkruns are like levelling up but tourism in the UK is also awesome 😃
