Pursuing one target for weeks on end was such a huge mistake. After Palace rejected our second bid and upped their price we should’ve walked away then still giving us allot of time to pursue other targets, but our hierarchy have managed the situation dreadfully. Every single club other than us did significant business. A RW to improve our starting 11 was imperative. Almiron and Jacob Murphy were Rafa signings but today they are still our RW’s which is absolutely ridiculous

The one thing Amanda and Mehrdad brought was the feel good factor, that had been a winning formula for us, it seems with their departure that has gone. Are we now just a big business? Do we need to just accept that it's changed now?

I’m super suspicious about all of this. I think Eddies been hung out to dry. It’s almost like he’s being forced out as well as Amanda. He wasn’t involved in the recruitment of Mitchell which I think undermines him as he likes control of transfers, so there’s going to be conflict there. The England job isn’t yet sorted completely, and if Eddie doesn’t feel supported who would blame him for taking it. As supporters we are going to regret this. Worst feeling since the takeover, and wouldn’t be surprised if it spills over to the stadium tomorrow and Spurs turn us over!

I've never trusted Eales. The comment that we needed to sell players to progress immediately had the press clamouring that Isak and Bruno were for sale. I wonder who put in the early release clause in Bruno's contract. Eales is all soundbites and no substance. Wary of Hope but what he's saying makes sense. We are really in trouble now with the project in great danger. Terrible summer window, awful to lose Amanda and Mehrdad. We are now being run by suits.

It looks like the departure of Amanda & Merhdad has had a big impact behind the scenes and not in a positive way, not making excuses for the players but Amanda was pretty hands on with both the men and women's team.

Were it up to me, I’d be on the phone to Mr. Hope’s contact in the PIF. If what Mr. Eales is reported to have said is true, I’d sack Eales tonight. Tomorrow morning I’d be on the phone to Amanda, offering her shares back to her free of charge as by way of an apology. Also I’d reinstate her as club director tomorrow morning. Newcastle United is a family club. The last thing we need are snakes in the boardroom.

It’s looks like this was an Eales/Staveley power struggle and PIF backed Eales. Howe was very much Staveley’s man, and she protected his influence. Now that’s gone I feel he’s being hung out to dry because they want him gone - this is a push towards England. They don’t trust him, they want their choice who will be loyal specially to them. I’ve worked in the corporate world and seen this play out many places - and the loser will likely be the club. Frankly I do not trust Eales right now.

my biggest worry is that we will not make CL and our top players will want out, and we are back to square one. So nervous about this season, I feel the management at the top have let us down especially as they kept saying Top4 is the target yet have done nothing to help that journey, As you say we have no depth and we will struggle if we get two key players out with injury for any amount of time we will be lucky for top 8, Definitely some problems going on behind the scenes for sure. Amanda was very proactive in sorting things out and a good front woman for the club from what it seamed. I don't like what we are feeling since Amanda left, we've gone from positivity to negativity. So many things have happened this summer; new kits, updates to club store, signings good/poor/few - but the general feeling I have is that they are creating an atmosphere to drive Eddie out. We could be wrong and hopefully we are.

I’m gutted that we’ve been crying out for RW and Chiesa has gone to Liverpool for £10M odd and only £80K per week wages.. PSR restrictions wouldn’t have hampered that deal… we’ve had a mare this window.. wasted it

What worries me is that if we are not doing well by the second half of the season, and a European place will look unlikely, the owners will feel they have to act positively, and will make the grand gesture of sacking Eddie. We will then end up with a new manager who will be excused disappointing early results as "it's not his team." We will then be assured of better times ahead although, of course, that will mean a rebuild and that will take time. There's definitely something wrong behind the scenes just now & a few weeks ago I got some stick on here when I said Eddies recent demeanour suggests to me that he ain't happy. I still have that opinion & I'm worried that he will ultimately shoulder the responsibility for mistakes that aren't his.

This threatens to be a season of stagnation rather than progression . What are the clubs expectations for the season now ? I think we'll be doing well to scrape a Conference League spot , which won't be enough to keep our top players happy next summer (when there are also a crazy number of players contracts expiring ) . All in all next summer could be the real shitshow and make this one look good by comparison. And If we really had 65-70 mil to spend , why not spend 35 mil on a RW , and 30 mil on a CB ? Plenty of upgrades out there in Europe . Or was it Guehi or nobody all along ?

Eales needs to go, the clues were all there. Amanda's statements tell a story, the aus trip, she said it was a management decision, made it clear not hers, Eddie didn't want it so it's Eales. She didn't mention him in her leaving statement or in the Athletic interview. Craig's article, though sensationalised, tells some truths clearly. Eales interview I didn't like, i found his condescending attitude to Eddie awful. Very sort of stay in your lane or else. Buck stops with Eales, we need an experienced major football club CEO not him. Where Mitchell fits in this i do not know, not impressed with his negotiating skills but Eales could have set the limits there too. BUT Eddie focusing on 1 player and not letting Miggy go is not faultless here. PIF need to do something. The club are desperate for some good PR now, I would expect movement with the stadium and/or new training ground to be fast tracked. Would love Amanda back but don't see that happening. I said when she left, awful timing, should have waited til after the window, would have a destabilising effect on everything, players, manager, fans. People laughed at me but I hate that i was right. Lessons need to be learned, changes need to be made, I hope PIF acts fast, Eales needs to go. We need to rally behind Eddie and the team and hope that Eddie has learned a lesson too. The reason , is because Eales wants to sell our marquee players such as Gordon , Bruno Isak in order to create high volumes of revenue - Amanda clearly was a staunch defender of HOWES position of keeping them, just watch , he hasn’t sold em yet because there’d have been hell on, but come next season he will move at least 2 of the aforementioned clubs n to create PSR headroom - as long as this is reinvested well that’s great , but the risk is we stagnate and the players we replace them with will be of their level a few years prior. I am not a fan of Darren Eales , he seems very sly

Eddie needs our support now: he has to lift the squad. The window is disappointing, but could have been worse had we lost Gordon, Isak Bruno or Trippier. I am not happy with the sudden changes behind the scenes, but we will never know the full story. Let's stabilise around Eddie for this season, at least.

What does Eales do? He organises pre season games on the otherside of the planet to boost the club! Sort out the bread and butter 1st Mr,completely nonsensical CEO management of our club

I respect your opinion Paul, but I think the responsibility has to lie with Mitchell. He's head of recruitment so even if things were a mess behind the scenes the buck stops with Mitchell. It's his job to get the deals in and out done.

As a neutral and I support all teams in the northeast. I can see Eddie Howe leaving for the England job, as he has not been supported in the transfer market this summer. As for going just for the one player was a stupid idea. Newcastle should have left after the 2nd bid as for Guehia has played. I have a feeling that Eales wants out any support for what was brought in by Amanda etc which could mean getting rid of Howe as well. Unless the Saudis see what Eales has done and get rid of him and ask Amanda to come back as CEO that would be the only way to sort out this shitshow that has happened at Newcastle. If not then you may have another situation where Eales could end up being another Ashley in disguise.

I think a lot of the feel good factor around the club was lost with Amanda's departure. She raised the profile of the women's team so much, too. As you say, she was the face of the club. Obviously, the financial fair play rules had already handicapped us. I felt sad watching Minte play today; he's gone straight into the Brighton first XI. I think we look like a midtable team now. I don't think Eddie Howe is necessarily free from blame. He seems to be fixated with English players, though they can cost twice as much for the same quality. And we brought in a squad player from his former club. We should have recruited another Sven Botman type CH from Europe and spent the other 30-35 million on a right-winger. Instead, we have stagnated which, at this level, means going backwards. And probably just a couple of injuries away from another crisis. Sorry to sound gloomy. But I've lost any real sense of excitement about the new season. We'll just have to hope for a good Cup run.

If the big boss is coming over for tomorrow’s match there will no doubt 😮be a big meeting ahead. The dealings with Crystal Palace were amateurish to say the least and PIF will not be pleased as it shows them up and they will not be happy the way we dealt a club who appear to have a habit in backing anything that the Cartel want or don’t want. Hi Paul, What a phenomenal effort you and the team did yesterday - and from all of us, it was really appreciated. I made a mention to it in the posts last night, and to be clear: The Saudi's do not accept failure - and actually (with this being their 'Main Interest' in Football) the performance over the last couple of transfer windows (especially not clearing out dead wood and retaining some which we should have kept), in particular with regards to the debacle over the last couple of weeks, they will see it as an insult. I have no doubt that over the coming days that there will be key people behind the PIF travelling to London where a full investigation to get to the bottom of it will be performed - and believe me (I've dealt with these people - and they are supportive, but they expect delivery for that support / investment) there will be the expectation that there will be casualties in this. News of it in the press will be released most likely (at the latest) by early December (as they'll want to look effective - but not as though they are panicking). I think what has went on has nothing to do with any concerns with regards to Eddie leaving for England - I think the reality is due to those changes in leadership have been the biggest un-stabling factor when it comes down to our manager. Again, and I keeping shouting this from the mountain tops - it has nothing to do with PSR, as there is now a considerable bounty in the coffers due to Adidas, Sela and Saudi Airlines money now coming in: In reality, it was this transfer window that should have been the launch pad for our next stage on not only retaining a top four place - but solidifying us as a permanent fixture. All I can say is, for the benefit of the long term, the Saudi's will have significantly learned from the last couple of windows - and they will play more of a part in ensuring their are clear plans and contingencies to ensure a constant improvement on their investment, which for this last calendar year will be simply a stagnation with regards to investment. They and we can only hope that those investments which were made last year are now realized, without those crises which we faced last year - plus young Lewis Hall has came on leaps and bounds (he works better with a solid Centre-back - can't wait for the partnership with Botman on that account), as well as Livramento really grasping the right-back. Honestly , we should of never went for Guehi - he wasn't really tested. He had a decent season in a back five last year - and the focus on him with England was only due to the lack-luster performance of the creative side of our style of play (Southgate and his favorites - and lack f any type of tactical depth). He's nowhere near the level of Botman - and I think we've got off well be not getting him. F*cking gutted at letting go of Anderson and Minteh though... It's not a great look and it's disappointing if this is true. However, what we now need to do is back Eddie and the players on Sunday and going forward. We don't want the negativity to be misguided and to transfer itself to the atmosphere and players. This squad and management are capable, we have to continue the positive support for them.

Amanda and Merhdad got the club, this is why she was held in such high esteem by all of the fans, she was the conduit between club and fans. I think that Eddie is under massive pressure now, due to the fact this is the second window that we have let Eddie down, he has had a lot of power taken away and imo this is why the club is not firing atm, I think that Mitchell gets a pass this time, as he has just arrived and I would imagine that Eddie wanted control this time, but loook where it has got us 😡😡😡

PSR is a problem if we were going to spend £50M on Olise and then £50M on Guehi. But it is not a problem if we have say £65M to spend. I think we had a plan to spend money on RW and use frees to get in Tosin+kelly. We changed it to get Olise £50M then spend £15M on young cb such as huijsens.we then change to get guehi who we got fixated on instead of walking away after 2 bids and going for different players. Think about this it smacks of egos getting in the way and trying to save face but the result is a mess and a laughing stock. This needs to be addressed as given the need to strengthen and replace out of contract players as well as keep our elite players A good January window is a must with top 4 finish or fa cup

There appears to be something very wrong with the club,you don’t have to be Sherlock to see there’s a serious lack of enjoyment amongst the squad, the smiles have disappeared the openness regarding information has disappeared the targets has become secretive, Mr Howe and his colleagues appear to be towing the party line all this as a result of Amanda and merdhads departure. As a certain space captain famously said ‘ I’ve got a bad feeling about this’, I do hope I’m wrong I’ve only been a supporter for 62 years.

The transfer window is the responsibility of Sporting Director, scouting team & Manager combined. They are a team who should pull together to identify improvement needs, transfer targets & negotiation strategy etc within available budget. The budget provided by owners & guided by CEO/CFO. Funds were available so it’s the SD, Scouts & Manager at fault NOT Eales.

The window was a disgrace, we are actually weaker. We have lost Anderson and Minteh. Fair enough but they have not been replaced. Ok, Minteh never played for us. But he was on our books and could well have sorted the right wing issue. If Eales is the top man. He needs to answer for what looks incompetence. Clearly NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Champions League ??
