Happy texture Thursday everyone!! Thanks for having me mell❤ I hope u all find this video helpful ❤ PS I forgot to clearly mention but I do have coarse, thick hair that is color treated so please consider that before u judge me for all the products I use 😅
Wow Amanda. You did amazing!!! Thanks for this update!! Question...do you always clarify your hair after using the oil? Or can you just use a regualr shampoo? Thanks!!
I'm happy Mell was able to get the break she needs, and I enjoyed watching your routine, Amanda! Would love to see a video like this from Mell as well.
My hair problems are most similar to Amanda. A lot, thick, very curly, dry scalp sometimes, and I'm lazy. So everytime she posts its like GOLD. I'd love to get a video about her hair cut style for her curls, what she does to sleep, and how she refreshes her curls day by day.
Absolutely no shade (and I say this as someone who loves her sisters, almost as much as we all love roasting each other) But I laughed when amanda mentioned “Mel has been working super hard so I thought I’d give her a break.” Because in my head, I’m thinking Mel’s response, “yeah, I filmed videos in a cast but now is when I need a break, thanks!” 😂😂😂
Love you guys and love seeing your routines! Would be really nice to see a low cost routine, like all Canadian drugstore brands, especially with this recession going on and inflation rates I think a lot of people would really appreciate it! All the best💛
I have such a tough time doing some hairstyles or styling because my left shoulder is messed up from an accident and I can't lift it up without propping it to do my hair without having to bend over to do it all the time. Thank you for showing how you part your hair and clip it to section it with all the hair you have, which is similar to mine. You should do more videos, you did a great job seester! Blessings.
Thank you so much! Loved the video and all your tips. I'm 52 years old and I'm not exaggerating when I say that you and your sister have changed my life. Forever grateful! 💜💜💜
AMANDA!!!! This was the perfect video for me. I feel like it was dedicated to my choas with my long curly hair, (we have the same hair issues, textures) that I have been dealing with lately in this dry winter. I love the seesters and follow you both but thank you Mel for allowing this takeover that was amazing!!❤️
Deshedding with oil is such a helpful tip!! This video was so relaxing to watch on break at work, looking forward to more Amanda channel takeover videos!!
Idk if this would be helpful or not But I’ve just been using a mixture of olive and castor oil with rosemary oil for my scalp before shampoo and it has been really nice
Amanda!! That was soooo good girl! I ordered some AG curl cream and mousse gel finally! Also got your microfiber towel, a new bigger bonnet and the brush-I’ve been not liking my Denman for styling so much so I’m super glad to see your recommendation for the detangling brush for styling!! Whooop I’m so excited-and it’s all YOU! 💕
I love this video! Not that I'm tired of seeing Mell whatsoever! But it was a nice little switch up to watch Amanda's whole routine, and listen to her thoughts. I'd love to see what you guys think about the Rizos Curls oils! I have fine hair. And I'd love to start a scalp routine. But I need something that's not gonna make my roots look greasy & weighed down. Thank you so much!❤️➿️❤️
Ugh i love when you give tips cause i have long curly hair and honestly i feel like its so different to style than short curly. The tips at the end too 😚🤌🏼
Amanda!! My favorite scalp oil is the Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp and Hair Strengthening Oil. I apply it on wash days and whenever I feel my scalp getting dry. It’s super cheap and smells amazing!
Amanda you did such a great job! You looked so comfortable infront of the camera. I am in love with your hair! Maybe you guys can make a video speaking about yours and Mels hair texture and from which side of the family it came from, maybe include pony tail mom! Keep it up!
My hair is sooooo similar to yours Amanda, except I’m in my 50’s, and letting it go grey now. But when I was younger, my hair was close in color to yours, my hair is still super thick. It took many, many years for good curly hair products that work on our THICK curly hair to become available. Back in the day, and I’m talking late 80’s early 90’s, for me, it was Aussie, but then I graduated to Paul Mitchell. Nowadays, I’m enjoying Verb shampoo & conditioner, and for defining my curls, I’ve used Tigi Curl Talk defining cream (the one in the dark aqua bottle. I don’t think it’s vegan, but it works so well, and I’ve used it for years. I try other products for awhile, and always go back to the Tigi). And lately in the slightly less humid winter months here in Florida, I use Mel’s Verb Foaming gel over the Tigi.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! High porosity, coarse, thicccc, curly hair twin. Okay that was extra 😂😂😂 lol I’ll calm down now.😅 I’ve been having a hard time trying to find good curly hair reviews and routines for those with thick hair that’s not a super tight curl. There tends to be a lot of emphasis on thinner curly hair that’s super fine, in my RU-vid searches. No shade to thinner hair, just stating an observation
You were amazing in this video. Such a good job. I remember how shy and quiet you were when you started making appearances. Yes, I definitely want to see a video on the Olaplex complaints. I've been using it for a few years now. From numbers 0-8 (still haven't had a chance to get 9). I haven't had any problems or major hair loss, but now I'm curious if I'm using it too much🤷🏻♀
This was the video that I needed! I also have thick and coarse hair. Amanda, you did a GREAT job! This was extremely helpful! Thank you for doing this, I know it was a personal struggle. You did fantastic!
Proud of you Amanda! Loved it! I have a question; is it possible to cause mechanical damage to the hair with finger coiling/twisting? Sometimes I feel like I may twisting too hard 😅
Amanda!! You did so great! I’m so proud of you! Miss Mell, of course, but it’s nice to see you share your routine with us and great to know Mell is getting a break. Wishing you both well! ☺️💕
🫶🏻 you Amanda. My hair is similar to yours, and I color my hair, so your tips help, ALOT. Mell is AMAZING. Love you both. So glad I found Mell and her YT channel. There are 4 kids in our family, all of us have diferent texture. So I get that too. Keep smiling. You guys are a wonderful place to watch and learn😁🦋
Thank you so much Miss Amanda!! I went & ordered your towel and leopard scrunchies LOL Soooo excited to receive & use. You & Mel are soooooo gorgeous!!! Thank you again for sharing with us!!!
Great job and beautiful results, Amanda! I live in Arizona... can't wait for next week's video!!! My question is about curl training: What are the best ways to encourage curls to be as curly as they can be? Thanks! 🩷
Loved this video! When you use deep conditioners/hair masks do you use normal conditioner at the same time? Loved all the volume tips. Had forgotten about the half up tip, definitely going to give that a go! 💁🏻♀️
I really like the Keratin Intensive Growth drops. I have been using it for 3 months and although I can’t say it does much for growth I can say my scalp has not been flaky at all this winter. I have a normal scalp that gets a tad dry in the winter.
Wow! I love it. Thank you for mentioning Olaplex. Yes a thousand times yes I would like a video. I have a sister as well and the similarities much like you and Mell are striking but I REALLY SAW IT when your hair was wet!
Love your video! ❤ yes, please do a video on olaplex! Ive been using these products for a while but have been experienceing the same issues that people have come forward about e.g hair loss, score and itchy scalp which has spread to my face, neck and shoulders 🤦♀️ please girl, talk to me about if olaplex could be the problem 🙏
I TOTALLY recommend the kerotin brand intensive growth drops for a scalp serum! I have a dry, fairly sensitive scalp, & got this on Amazon (though I know they have their own website too), and I've only used it for about a month or so, but I hardly ever deal with itchy scalp since I started using this! I've also noticed less shedding which was why I bought it, but the immediate scalp relief had been amazing!
@@vikkistutzman4712 Dry, yes, flaking sometimes, but ever since I began double cleansing my hair, using a shampoo brush or scalp exfoliator, & using scalp treatment/shampoos like bounce curl detox mask, curl talk scalp cleansing oil & their scalp exfoliating shampoo, etc, the flakiness mostly went away. That was before I started using this, so I can't say for sure if it will help flaking. It's definitely hydrating though & does help dryness. I would think if you can exfoliate your scalp gently like once a week in conjunction with this it would probably help flaking. I'm just guessing. Dryness, sensitivity, itchiness, definitely.
Seester takeover! Even tho I have thinner density and medium fine hair, I also love AG recoil, cream defines and gel mousse is my favorite. Love the treatment tips.
I'm just seeing this 10 months out, but my hair is so similiar to Amanda's (in structure, not in how it looks on the daily, but I'm hopeful!). I'm trying to figure out a routine to get consisent, defined bouncy curls and mitigate the frizz. Besides long, coarse, high density hair (which seems to come from heredity rather than damage), I also have a very low hair line that makes wearing my super thick hair down completely frustrating. I'm excited to try some of these products and a similar routine. Next up, figuring out how to get a bobby pin to stay in this mass of hair or use clips without them snapping, so I can actually style it sometimes. Thanks for this!!!
I would love a video about Olaplex, I just added it to my routine and so far have had no negative results but would like to see Mell's deep dive into it.
Great job, Amanda!! Thanks for taking the time to share & the product recommendations. Would luv to know any refresh tips u may have for btwn wash days. Best wishes
Amanda try removing a few lines of the hair bristles from your Denman. For me it was a game changer. I have 4 rows in, never looked back. Thx for the video.
Amanda!! Halp! I've been wearing my hair curly over the past 6 years, yet I'm still struggling with frizz at the crown area. The climate here is a little crazy, damp in the morning, dry around noon, then goes back to damp. We seem to have very similar hair types and textures. I'm long, fine and high porosity! Usually I do an Aveda curl cream with protein (and unfortunately glycerin but not too high up the list), then the Aveda confixor gel. Yes from Mel's video I might switch it up and omit the cream for the Camille Rose Naturals whipped butter-gel, sometimes on its own, sometimes with the Aveda phomollient mouse. I'll try combining mouse with less gel and see if I can get them less stringy and crisp, yet more defined. I usually need a refresh on day 4 when it's too flat yet frizzy.. What difference would adding a leave-in to my routine make? I feel it would weigh me down? I do use conditioner over my masque (medium protein every week).
Thank you, all your videos are really helpful to learn how "taking care" of our hair, scalp work. (Thanks also from one of my friend cause she's now using K18 and she's very happy with the results.) Céline
YAY Amanda loved it.. as i have very thick hair you should consider taking a Thursday.. to show things you do with your hair! "Amanda's Take Over Thursday's "
I KNEW Amanda was older Usually the older sister is more reserved & quite & the younger is louder & comedic yet perfect combo & besties Same with me & my sis lol
Hi Amanda, great video. My question for you both is, why use the two different types of oils for the pre-poo and after styling? Is there a difference in the oils? The Moroccan oil was used the night before your wash, then the Verb oil was used after styling. Just curious. I have the Verb oil and use it after my style as well. Could it be used for the pre-poo also or no? Thank you… 🤗
I love your new routine, Amanda! I've been watching so many of your videos, trying to figure out how to style my hair. But, unfortunately, there is only one chance every week to practice. The styling techniques I've tried so far are the Denman brush styling and finger coiling. This weekend I was going to try a combination of those two. But I noticed you are taking larger chunks of your hair and brushing it out. I love that. In other videos, you and Mell brushed out small sections. I tried it, and it didn't work for me. After brushing your hair, do you scrunch it up to define the curls?
I'd love to hear about finding products to use on young kids. I want to be able to help my daughter with her curls as her hair continues to grow but want be using gentle products.
Great job, Amanda! Thanks for all the product information! I've meaning to try the AG Recoil Activator. I've seen others use it, and they say they love it, too. Keep up the great work!
You know you've made it when a product gets accused of making ppl lose their hair. First, WEN, then Devacurl, now Olaplex. Jeez. Love your routine, Amanda. I might try some of it. 💜💜
Wen and Devacurl had the same ingredients and style of use (no-pooing or co-washing). The fact that people were never truly cleaning their hair at the root meant that the hair became suffocated and died. Olaplex is a protein treatment and should not be left in the hair. Like Mell always says, "follow the directions". But there are so many influencers on Instagram and TikTok saying to leave some treatment in the hair after washing, leading to protein overload and fallout. So it's not the product, but the misuse of it. Honestly, Mell is the only curly hair stylist on social media that I trust right now.
after suffering from massive post-covid hair loss, all i can do while i watch this video is wish i had half of Amanda's density! so full and beautiful. i would love to hear Mel address the Olaplex thing....wait a minute, what if all these olaplex users that experienced hair loss had covid? 🤔
I was wondering the same thing, and I do not even use Olaplex. Sometimes when people have stress related hair loss too, they are looking for something to blame. I think OGX was also blamed for hair loss.
@@snakejuce I heard good things about Olaplex, as it’s supposed to strengthen damaged hair. Some people might be over using it, or not using it correctly. Also, some people might be experiencing post covid hair loss, which is a common side effect of covid, so it’s hard to say all hair loss is because of Olaplex. I do not use Olaplex, but hair stylists do say it protects hair that has been damaged because of coloring.
I love your video! Amanda you were awesome ❤ I love seeing both seesters hair textures plus tips. My hair is more similar to Amanda which is great to see your whole routine.
Love the video & your gorgeous hair Amanda. My hair is pretty similar & I use the basic routine you guys do minus the treatments for blonde highlights. I would love to see your favorite way to refresh when you need to. Mine has been a simple dry refresh with the smallest bit of my sealing oil/serum using praying hands. TIA ❤
You did so great Amanda ❤🎉 thanks for the video and all the tips/recommendations. Of course Mell is amazing and I miss her, but I equally love you so thanks for stepping in. Also, I really want to try the AG mousse/gel and you’ve convinced me to give it a go 😊 oh and I just bought your seester bundle hair towels and had them delivered to Australia, they are so worth it!!
I really enjoyed the video Amanda! You might really like the Pacifica Rosemary mint scalp treatment. It may be a drugstore alternative to Ouai. I haven't used the Ouai treatment, but I love the Pacifica one!
Thanks for the video! It was very nice, as usual. ❤ Something that I struggle with as well, is the flaky scalp. I just tend to have dry skin on my body, including my scalp, and have to moisturize often. I also tend to struggle with defining my wavy & curly hair, simply because my hair is at/past my knees, it’s super thick and heavy, and I really can’t reach very well to style off the head, lol. 😂 I’ve been raking it up as far as I can reach, pausing a bit to readjust my hold, and then resuming to brush it on through, which is a bit tricky to do, without creating tangles! 😂 It has definitely been a learning curve on how to deal with my curls, or, “my mop,” but I think I’m doing better because people have been complimenting me a lot, saying my hair looks so curly, and asking what I do. That’s always nice. ❤
Probably the best thing I did for my hair, was I cut some off. It was at my ankles/floor. It was so heavy. It was like wearing a helmet all the time. When I trimmed it, I straight-up cried, because it felt so relieving, lol. It’s been so easy to brush through it compared to before, since the trim, too!
