Ok I’ve been seeing a lot of people complain about this “twist” being obvious, the show dragging it on too long, etc… when I really don’t think that’s the point of the show at all. I don’t think it’s trying to hide the fact he has DID from the audience (all you’d have to do is Google the true story to find out about his diagnosis) at all. Instead, the show is trying to put the audience into HIS mind. We, of course, can tell from the beginning that Danny’s stories don’t line up, that he obviously is deluded, that his alters are not real people, etc. BUT, Danny does not have the gift of our outside perspective. So, when he is finally confronted by Rya, the “twist” is not intended for the audience, but for Danny. The show is trying to draw viewers in to Danny’s experience so that we might understand what DID might be like and how someone suffering from it could be so far removed from reality without treatment.
I could not have said it better myself.. Rya reeling Danny in with the Adam phase and when all the alters are fighting to be seen the scared lightbulb feeling of help these voices terrify him
