Valentina won the fight, but we all know that it could have easily gone the other way. And if it had gone the other way, would anybody have called it a "robbery" or said Santos "didn't deserve the win"? I wouldn't! Santos was EASILY giving Shevchenko the hardest defense of her 125lb belt. The headbutt was so unfortunate, and to be fair could have easily hurt Valentina more than Santos. Ultimately, we'll never know. But ask yourself WHO was looking like the winner leading up to the clash of heads? Who came off worst from the headbutt? And AFTER it happened, who's ability to fight the way they had been thus far appeared to be compromised the most? For me, Santos was looking absolutely fantastic in the early rounds of the fight. We can't know whether she could have kept it up the whole fight, but win or loose she was looking like the first person to actually give The Bullet a tough title defense. She ABSOLUTELY deserves a rematch IMO, and if not her then WHO ELSE is going to even challenge Shevchenko? She either needs to move up to 135lbs and face Nunes again, or rematch Santos at 125lbs. There isn't really any other fights that make sense, least in my opinion.
