This is a beautiful speech that gave me a profound realization. The message I get from this is that statements involving racism and cultural appropriation are not an invitation to agree with the person making the statement, nor are they invitations to defend your position. What they are to me are challenges to show that you truly and genuinely care about the struggles and injustices that the oppressed had endured. How do you show that? You listen. You acknowledge.
