@@trollnerd6522 I am sure you know more than I do. I am not into baseball that much but I stand by what I posted for any pitcher. I had to explain to the wife, "he doesn't have to throw a strike." I think some of those up and away were intentional, I could easily be wrong.
Can’t tell what will happen and the Met fans are rooting to the rafters to create an atmosphere in that stadium of domination. Their presence makes a palpable difference and they know it. So did Diaz. Hope they can keep it going. What a show.
Hey guys, not to bother, but can someone explain how this works? im confused. How does the wild card and clinched etc work? What happened in this game i love baseball and still learning the game
Each league has three divisions. The first place team in each division goes to the postseason, as well as the three best teams in the league that are not in their division's first place. Those last three teams are the wild card teams. The three wild card teams as well as the worst of the three first place teams play each other with 2 of the 4 teams advancing. That leaves 4 teams total, which play each other to eliminate another 2, which play each other to eliminate 1. That 1 remaining team is the league champion, which goes to the World Series. The Phillies are in first place in the NL East division, and are all but certain to end the season in first. The Mets and Braves, also in the NL East, are both in contention for the very last of the three wild card spots. After this game, the Mets and Braves are playing 3 straight games against each other. That three game series will likely determine which team will get the last wild card spot. Because the Mets won this game against the Phillies, the Mets are now 2 games ahead of the Braves, which weighs the odds in the Mets favor going into the series against the Braves. It's also significant because the Mets and Phillies are long time rivals, and the Phillies are in first place, so beating them is extra satisfying. Additionally, had the Phillies won this game, they would have enough wins to guarantee that they end the season in first. The Phillies will likely end in first anyway, but the fact that they didn't get to clinch (guarantee their position) in a game against their long time rival who is desperately fighting for second place makes the win more significant as well. This was also the last Mets home game of the season, and may be the last Mets home game for Pete Alonso, the Mets newish first baseman who is already an all time team home run leader despite just starting.
@@MaulerX Mets are notorious for folding under pressure especially against the Braves but you're definitely a delusional Mets fan so I understand your reaction, lolololololol
They're on the road for the rest of the year. Three with the Braves, and three with the first place Brewers. I been a Mets fan since the Polo Grounds days. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. These last six games could be bad, could be ugly. I hope not, but the one redeeming factor in this is that if they do survive and get a playoff berth, they surely will have earned it and the good will be on them.
