Darren, I don’t comment often, but watch most of your vlogs. I feel you’ve taken more flak than usual on these New York episodes; just wanted to say I appreciate the content. I know how much time and effort goes into them, and I always enjoy a new upload. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m assuming you’re back in the UK now - hope you had a safe trip back.
I agree. If you look at some of the comments, it's always the same idiots. Makes you wonder why they watch?? Unfortunately all channels attract the trolls, they've obviously not got much else going on in their lives.
It’s Very unlikely that you had real maple syrup, that jug you were pouring out of would have been about $20 worth. All the syrups are highly processed with artificial sweeteners, I don’t go near them. Although they taste ok 👍🏻
(200) I live in Missoula, Montana. There is a place called "Paul's Pancake Parlor" and it opened in 1967. It still uses the same "bug" (sour dough starter) that they began with when they opened. INCREDIBLE sour dough pancakes and their buckwheat pancakes are SO GOOD. Very glad you enjoyed your food tour, Mr. John. Even if it was in big, stinky New York City.
Food looked alright and unlimited coffee is a bonus and good get a decent amount of maple syrup as well. Looking at both your channels has made me want to visit New York some day.
Hey DJ, for starters, I love your vlogs❤. I'm a yank that lives adjacent of the area(s) you visited and I have to say that you're missing, a lot, of the great food options in NYC(the tri-state area really). On your next trip I highly recommend going downtown on the east side, Williamsburg and green point, north NJ over the river, *and* southwest CT as full on this is the wear the real food action happens. Also recommended going to the Berkshires as it's, beautiful. Please don't stay in midtown anymore. RE in the Berkshires you will find some of the finest maple syrup😊. In other news it looks like you also experienced some green 🌿 action lol. Next in town I would love to show you NJ and CT diners, great pizza, and whatever we describe as the equivalent of a pint over lol🤣. Thank you for your content and keep rising🤗
the pancakes looked freshly cooked an amazing, the whole breakfast did actually. But i am coming to the conclusion that American ' Diners' are just like cafe's but with restaurant prices ! Anyway thanks for the video
Hey daz i said before im a brit living in florida pancackes bacon sausage maple syrup and hot sauce combined yer get the heat the sweet and the savoury try it mate oh couple of fried eggs too
I've had that breakfast many times in the states usually under duress ie nothing else to eat. Not my favourite mixing flavoured high fructose syrup with incinerated slices of pork fat and link sausages and then they put mounds of butter on the pancakes! hello heart attack! been there got the badge. Full English for me mate knocks the pants off that
I enjoyed pancakes as well. Using a packet of ready mix batter and fried them on a contact grill. Put some lovely runny honey on them and my taste buds exploded. They were good enough on their own for me. I guess if I was in a diner I would probably order something with them but I wasn't. Home alone.
Love the pancakes 🥞 easy to make once you’re back home Darren but a bit dangerous for the old waistline 😂 One of my favourite breakfast. You’ll be going all American in your kitchen back in London 😊
DJ if you like pancakes you must must must try the ones in Sunday in Brooklyn Notting Hill. They are out of this world. You think those ones were deep, the ones at Sunday are twice as deep. Honestly they’re stunning! Safe journey back from NY lovely guy 😊
Truthfully you haven't come anywhere near the end of American Food.Just New York. Just doing BBQ is a series in itself. lol. I hope you are able to visit again and try another city .
From a travel perspective this trip was great for DJ and the other channel. But from a food review perspective he has way better in East London every day of the week. A lot of clip joints in NY.
Dj ! I was having a conversation with a North American care worker about the Inuit, he said they get a yearly health check free, basically all the elders of 90 yrs plus have bodies like 25 Yr old athletes with no problems whatsoever, yet their great grandchildren that have adopted the modern Western diet are suffering with obesity, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, mental problems, etc etc. It goes on.. it doesn't take Einstein to work out its obviously their modern diet causing problems. There's nothing wrong with natural fat, it's sugar&carbohydrates causing problems, all we see in food in general today is loads of sugar&carbohydrates. Funny that. Hence America is becoming unhealthy with the rest of the world addictiveley following.
HI Darren Another great video but sorry to tell you that type of breakfast is not for me I am waiting for when you go to Asia. You forget when English people go on holiday they all want to live on the same type of food and lifestyle as being in the UK. You take those who go to spain for example they head straight to the places where you look at the menu and see all those typical english dishes like All day breakfast and Roast Dishes . When I am in Asian I rarely eat english food just enjoy the local food so thats why I am really looking forward to the Asian trip. Thank you for showing New York but it is not a place on my travel list.
@@michaelfoubister4339 Yes…right next door. Grimaldi’s sold out and the new owner moved to the larger space next door in an old bank building. Meanwhile, the original Grimaldi owner decided to stay in business, so reopened as Juliana’s, and in the same spot. Bottom line, if you want the original Grimaldi, then go to Juliana.
@@michaelfoubister4339 Grimaldi's is right next door, in an old bank building. Grimaldi sold out some time ago, and the new owner moved to the larger space. Still very good NY style pizza. However, the original owner decided not to retire and reopened...in the same place....but having sold the name, they called it Juliana's. So, if you want the original Grimaldi, you should got right next door to Juliana. Either way, you're going to get top notch NY pizza. Oh....and don't forget Lombardi's. It is my understanding that these three places are the only remaining pizzerias allowed to use coal fired ovens. NYC out lawed some years ago, but due to their many years in business, these place were "grandfathered" in, and still allowed to use coal fired.
Well DJ Thats you done the East Coast, What about the West Coast... I would love you to Review LAS VEGAS..... Now that would knock your Subscriber List OFF THE CHARTS......
Darren Ref wanting to get home, depends i think if you miss your family or kids. Of course people will miss their home comforts ,British their tea etc. But it you have a brain you know where you're going obviously have knowledge of the food that countries offer. Having travelled all over Germany for 50 plus years, i don't go looking for Full English Mc yuck etc . Isn't that the idea of travelling. You made an excellent point when you were in Spain, tapas etc the fresh markets etc . Safe trip home mate❤
Glad you enjoyed it but, nah, not a fan of American food. I wouldn't eat pancakes if you paid me, especially with syrup sloshed over it. Bacon, eggs, a sausage and a slice of fried bread for me, please, with a splash of Worcester sauce on the bread. Now we're talking!
Must be the most unhealthiest city in the world and a truly expensive price to pay. Sorry to have to say but most of the food you have eaten has been junk😞 Oh and ask for tea instead of coffee, that’ll flummox them ! 😮 Went once, that was enough.
@DJsFoodTravels Like reaching the end of the internet…”and then I think I’ve covered it all”. 😂 you sure gave it your best shot! Great series. Come to the south next time. Charleston, savannah, maybe Louisiana. Or Appalachia, the smokies.
Love NEW YORK..years since lv been..my must have was pizza slice/ blueberry muffin/ donut/ hot dog/ burrito ( proper mexican/ Puerto one) cheese popcorn.
I went to Vegas in February and everywhere I went the service was exceptional!! When I came back here the service was laughable…..the difference is Night and Day!! They should work off tips over here, and you never know, there might be a smile or two??!
