Great video. I hiked around Ausangate on a 5 day trek back in 2008. It is some of the most spectacular landscapes you can find in the Andes. I also remember the stone huts and stone enclosures where families live and keep their alpacas. There are so many alpacas around the mountain. Ausangate is the most famous Apu in the Andean spiritual tradition and the mountain is close to the Qeros communities. Villages which stayed hidden from the outside world until the 1950's and kept the Inka spiritual tradition alive and pure, when the rest of the Andean world was heavily influenced by the spanish. The Qeros villages is my top spot for where I would most want to visit in Peru, but it is not a place the average tourist would go.
Thank you 😊 yeah September would still be a good time to do the hike we think (still the dry season then) and you'll be closer to the shoulder season too so might be less tourists around 👍
It is amazing!! We booked it through a company called Peru Hike. We also organised our Colca Canyon 3 day trek with them and both times they were very good 👍 hope you have an amazing time! 🤞
Most people just choose to do the one day tour from Cusco but hardly anyone does the Ausangate trek like we did. We also did it right at the start of the main tourist season so there were less people in general. And a bit of luck of course! 👍
