The ocean with Malibu is incredibly beautiful {looking out into the horizon.} No question. Breathtaking..............but I'm from New England. The homes on the beach at Malibu {unless you have 150 million an can secure some land and some privacy} are packed together like sardines. Most of the homes are "box" like {I've gone on Trulia an looked at them.} They are odorless, colorless, and soulless. I'm not crazy about California "architecture" {such as the huge rooms and the stone floors and the "modern" look, etc.} Other than the beautiful ocean a place like Malibu is very dry. Heck the "hills" are mostly "scrub grass." Ever seen a beautiful New England home with antique furniture and dark wooden floors and lovely green lawns and rolling lush hills and neighbors that are NOT right next to you?.....................The ocean in Malibu is gorgeous {if you have enough money so you can truly enjoy it} but I'd take New England any day of the week.
