Nice & clear video Ben, I'll have a bash at this. One thing i would add is that this would work best (laying 1.5 goals) in games where at least one of the teams has been scoring 2 or 3 goals per game. Great strategy & easy to understand.

Hi. Firstly i came across your vids and have to commend you on a job well done!. Im still learning the ropes..... whats the advantages to LAYING under 1.5 to BACKING over 1.5? B4 i saw this i have done 3 trades where i would back 1.5 at HT hope for an early goal then ride odds down to my entry point see if another goal would come. I learnt a few things 1: it can be VERY profitable when works. 2: Be VERY careful when waiting for entry point( odds changed as i cashed out resulting in £1.40 loss) 3: I felt MUCH more comfortable doing this on games i could actually watch as to just in game stats. (In game STATS can differ greatly from site to site) Also i take it this is much more profitable than laying the draw? cheers

Hello Ben, I am Alex and I have a question about the strategy. It is clear that iron discipline is necessary to achieve a good profit, but the most important thing is the right choice of matches. What criteria do you choose for matches over 1.5 goals before the game and then in live what statistics should be for does the match go?Thanks in advance!

One thing I wanted to point out for people that are not used to lay betting. The Lay must be odds on. At 1.5 you are risking half the stake. Don't put on a lay bet over 2.00 as you are risking the whole stake. In certain conditions you can risk more than the stake you lay. JUST BE SURE THAT THE LAY BET IS ODDS ON. i would like to see more trading strategy's using lays. When you trade on the back market you are limiting your profit as the price goes down. With lays you would be waiting for the market price to rise. Interesting idea using a trailing stop loss...

Great video but am I right in understanding that despite what you said about discipline in the example you allowed the trade to go through your trailing stop loss after the goal and luckily a second goal was scored. Had a second goal not gone in you would had been into another loss as you went trough your stop loss?

Hi. Can I use this method also for other market, and also in first half time, and not only goal market in second half? Ben, why you choose exit odd 1,10 or 1,15, need to always tick difference 40 between entry and exit odd? Regards
@psbsoham
@psbsoham 5 лет назад
One thing to be aware of if you are entering such a trade, is that you do really need the first goal to come relatively early in the proceedings, or else the price won't jump enough to put the strategy into action. Example, you lay under 1.5 goals at odds of 1.6 early 2nd half (0-0), and there are no goals at all until just before your 1.1 stop loss exit point. If for example the goal comes in the 83rd minute the price is only going to bounce back up to about say 1.4, so you could still make a small loss even if that goal comes. Don't want to be negative, but worth bearing in mind, and I guess it comes back to careful match selection again.
@me-zj4qc
@me-zj4qc 5 лет назад
You can avoid this by watching the market for the following goal (2.5 for 1.5 etc.) and getting out before the back odds come down to your entry odds.

hello, using geks toy, I noticed that in tennis it is possible also putting the stop loss, you can have problems, that is the stop loss if the gap of the trade is big is a problem. the toy in fact also has the option place stop at + .. according to you, what value should you put on "place stop at +" in the geks toy to be sure of being matched and not exceeded by the quota and therefore no longer have a chance? why is it so right? if there is a jump of 30 ticks it is possible not to be fed up, or not?

Nice Video Ben, I have a quick question. When you mention about being disciplined etc and being able to manually exit the trade if your S/L is hit? After you have placed your Lay bet - and you know what your S/L is (1.1 initially) or (1.4 after the goal is scored) so could you not Click on the "Back" tab and then type in the relevant number - that way effectively the S/L would be in place as soon as the price hits. (If this is a stupid question - i apologise LMAO)
@SportsTradingLife
@SportsTradingLife 5 лет назад
Hi Andy, what would happen if you did that is the market would immediately take your bet and close the trade. So the best thing is to wait and do it manually or the more advanced approach would be using some software.

Both approaches are good Eric. By removing risk you eat into the profit potential so you have to assess your own selections and see if your own strikerate can maintain that.

Better strategy if you lay the draw about 65 mins mark around 2.0 odds or under, and lay under 1.5 golas too! You do not have limited time window, late goal can help, you win LTD then. If goal come earlier you can trade out LTD what covers lay on under 1.5. Another goal comes full profit. You have more time win

Hi Ben. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us for free. I have a question: what if instead of using the stoploss, you just take responsibility and leave the profit in freebet? Could not it be more profitable in the long run? I ask this because using the stoploss, we fail to catch the late goals (after the 85 '). Making a freebet in first goal, we would have a smaller profit per game, but a bigger time window

The best way to automate is use software to sound alarm and switch to market at the stop odds, and do it manually I would also get out a 100% turnover of liability example you lay 100 at 1.5 liability £50 a goal goes in offers you say £55 would take that. if no goal at 1.15 your out if you right 50% of the time your quids in. dont get wrong here, if a goal goes in and the profit is say £70 or £80 i would not take it, i would wait for the next goal for £100 profit or if it drops back to £55 i would then get out.

I understand the strategy, but instead of choose a low strike rate, isn't better to cash-out after the goal and increase the strike rate? So... You'll receive a less percentage of your possible profit per game, but cashing out after the goal you may also win the market, am I right? Plus: cashing out you can move on and don't need to follow the game until your stop loss point.

Hi Ben, I am currently trading this strategy with a 2 to 1 ratio. So my first stoploss is always 33%, one third of te stake. I have the experience and discipline to win with this strategy. It happened to me a good couple of times that I was seconds to late or to early, but I understand in the long run, if you stick to the strategy, you will make money. However, after two weeks I have traded 23 matches with a win-rate of 26%. (Backtesting using a 40% stoploss wouldnt make a huge difference) So I was wondering what your win-rate is. If you have a higher win-rate, than I know for a fact I have to do a better job and maybe apply for some lessons.

when you say a goal flies in after you ve took a loss should nt your records tell you if setting the stop loss lower or entry point is optimised?

Yes Steven, but everyone's records are going to be different so everyone will optimise differently.

Couldn't you soften the potential worst-case-scenario loss even more by placing a $1 back bet on the 0-0 correct score before kick-off? Or a higher amount on 0-0 at around half time (just prior to placing your first Under 1.5 lay bet)?
@thomaskrebs592
@thomaskrebs592 Год назад
hi ben, i do not understand in how far you need additional software to place a stoploss with this method. can't you simply put in a pending back order at 1.10 as soon as your lay order at 1.50 is triggered? of course you still have to be around the screen to adjust the back order at the moment a goal is flying in. anyway a stressfree yet effective method.
@SportsTradingLife
@SportsTradingLife Год назад
If you put the back order in via Betfair then the bet will automatically be accepted as they will match you at the highest price

WAHT trailing stop loss, if a play make a gol, market make e big move and stop loss it's nothing. nobady back at 1.20 when market move at 1.80. stop loss it's a risk

Would it not be better to ride the short trend rather going against it. Short shell your stock from £90 to £50 and make £40 minus your £10 initial loss.

Ben, why don't you just put the closing stop loss bet in the market at your original entry price after the first goal has gone in? It seems to me that it requires more discipline (and time) to be constantly scanning the market to wait for the price to get back down to the entry price and then put the closing scratch bet in. Or is it because even unmatched bets are somehow lost when the market is suspended when the second goal comes in (on the Under 1.5 goal lay example you give on the Millwall match)? .i.e. it seems to me easier to place the closing bet in after the first goal goes in and then forget about it, secure in the knowledge that you will either get a scratch trade or the full result
@SportsTradingLife
@SportsTradingLife 4 года назад
That is correct, if you put it in the market early then the market will take it. There is software that can automate it though.

Why don't you move your stop loss above your entry point say from 1.40 to 1.60. Just wandering
@SportsTradingLife
@SportsTradingLife 5 лет назад
You could do that if you wished. Would mean less time in the market to get the goals though.

can't you just bet on 0.5 goals scored and exit at some point as well for a loss.. if goal is scored you would win instantly?
@SportsTradingLife
@SportsTradingLife 5 лет назад
You could but you would have an inverse risk/reward ratio. You would be risking much more than you can win on that market.

Yeah definitely Chris, A similar approach would work. Just have to know you need 2 goals for a profit in this case.

I’ve just used this method in the leister game. Well sort off. I say sort off because I didn’t quite follow the rules. I cashed out for a profit instead of letting it hit my stop loss. I just couldn’t bare the idea of breaking even when I had guaranteed profit stirring me in the face. I’m actually a bit annoyed with me self for not cashing out as soon as the goal was scored. I would have made £46 instead of the 20 I ended up making. So my question is what’s so bad about cashing out when the goal is scored. I know we’re meant to have discipline but what if you have enough discipline to always get out of the market when you hit your first stop loss in the red, what’s so bad about cashing out for a guaranteed profit when it does go right. You said it yourself the method has a lot of break evens, why no reduce those break evens and increase the amount of times you profit. I’m not trying to question the method or undermine you in any way. I’m genuinely curious. If there’s a good reason to wait it out other than potentially increasing your profit to get 100% of your stake, I’ll start do it, but if there isn’t really a good reason apart from that I think I might stick to trading out when the goal I need comes.
@SportsTradingLife
@SportsTradingLife 5 лет назад
Nothing bad about it at all! You would just need to maintain a higher strike rate to profit long term that way, but as said, nothing bad or wrong with either approach!

it's not really a Trailing Stop-Loss is it ... all you are doing is moving your Stop-Loss as the market moved in your favour. You could move it such that you would win £10 or £20 rather than break-even ... it's for you to decide what your minimum profit or maximum loss will be if the second goal is not scored. There's nothing wrong with the strategy just saying it's not a true Trailing Stop-Loss and it is more flexible than you are describing. :)

Following on from Dave Holmes and others who've shared their outcomes using this strat, the viability must be desperately marginal. Even waiting to go in at 1.50 you can only afford to be totalled around twice the number of times you win, whatever you do. I don't think you'll get enough goals.
