I learned veena for several years growing up in India. It is a really difficult instrument to learn. I had deep scar tissue on many of my fingers for several years. Btw this instrument is similar to Sitar but much more difficult in my opinion. Usually veena is traditionally a south Indian instrument while sitar is from northern India.

All of these that you mentioned it's all from India. Not from North or South. Veena is instrument of goddess Saraswati. And goddess Saraswati is venerable in all over India. India is only one with strength of unity. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Aniket Patwa i understand your sentiment and I agree with it but technically in my entire life I only saw veena learned and played by South Indians and sitar was exclusive in North India although some South Indians might have learnt it. My comment is purely based on technicalities. I love my India, the entirety of it!

Dhyana Exactly, North Indian style of music ‘Hindustani’ have different instruments compared to South Indian style ‘Carnatic’ music. North Indian Hindustani style is based more on ragas & traditional songs while South Indian Carnatic style is based on raga & stresses more on Sruthi & devotional songs. No North Indian instrument is used in South Indian classical music.

The main instrument is no saraswati it's Veena , and that drums type instrument is Mrudangam and that clay pot is called Ghatam it's specially designed so thin to produce good music and heat it so slowly for long time to become so strong that won't break long time,

Perfectly arranged sounds, it is actually called music. The geometrical patterns of sounds. Carnatic is the most complex music one can ever learn.

Chirag K Valmiki isn’t the one who wrote Ramayana, please do understand Ramayana and Mahabharata was constantly evolved by so called scholars till 800 AD by inserting favorable screenplay. Don’t find the history through books rather find it thru your language (our language’s root words has strong evidences). My language has lots and lots of references about the Great King Ravanan from earlier ancient evidences (but most of our which was destroyed by the yudas). Wanna have some tip about true Ramayana about what happen to the Hanuman and Shukrivanan’s troops after the war? try search for the countries called Mali and Mauritania and research about what was it earlier.

You should definitely watch some Hindustani classical Violin music by the ace violinist legendary Dr. N. Rajam or her niece Kala Ramnath. The purest of Indian music on violin that you can get absorbed into. You will definitely love it.

We have 1000s of music instruments all over india, that instruments u mentioned as saraswathi we call it as veena in south india, wath the drum played here is mrithangam the king of music instruments and he is one of the master in that instrument.

The instrument is Called Veena. Sarasvatī is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, and learning. She is a part of the trinity (Tridevi) of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. All the three forms help the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva to create, maintain, and regenerate the Universe, respectively. Thus the knowledge of creation comes from Sarasvatī.

Like we have acoustic, electric, electro-acoustic, classical etc. guitars to show the types of stereophonic nature of these instruments and uses across spatial mediums depending on the occasion,event etc. If you have been informed “Saraswati” means goddess of knowledge, someone is confusing the Sanskrit translation for the nature of the instrument. I just explained above in the general understanding of these terms to “Veena” instrument in comparison to guitars.

Indie there are transitioning in between thats them improvising the lead on veen will start a raga and others start their own part. 90% of times they themselves don't know what they would be playing & it's not rehearsed.

she is playing the Veena(vee- na), man on the left is playing mrudangam(mru-dan-gam). mrudu means soft and angam means part of your finger. and the person on the right is playing Gatam, which is a clay pot.

I agree with Dhyana, but there people who mastered Veena. You can search Veena chitibabu, S. Balachander both are legends and Veena Gayatri and recently Rajesh vaidya these guys are extremely talented. Its a wonderful instrument.

Indian classical music is nothing but an extension of the music theory as is understood by the professionals and the academicians. It’s amazing only because it’s like finding what was missing but otherwise all forms of music are beautiful and standalone beasts unto themselves. I use the term beasts cos every form of music is not only a challenge but makes you wanna butt heads with an invisible force to render it neutral to learn and music is not a joke to the creator and is also the puppet master to control one’s feelings and mood

Indian Classical and Carnatic music are two different versions of Indian music.. In southern part of India you can see many Carnatic music practitioner but in Northern part of India , it is dominated by Indian Classical. Both have great heights and love .. and love has no versions .. It is simply 'Love' ❤️

in India there are two types of classical music styles 1. Hindustani 2. karnatic hindustani is practiced in northen india , pakistan and karnatic in southern india. This is of karnatic styles. both uses same muscical notes.
