Discus poop a lotttttt lol. So bare bottom is easier. Also with them getting scared/jumpy you don't want a lot of decoration in the tank as they can easily hurt themselves. I still agree, amazingly simple and beautiful store.
How i find your channel: - regularly browsing about Aquascape - searching the video about simple aquascaping set up on RU-vid - and then here comes the algorithm
So I just have to comment. I'm a 52 year old with my Ph.D in marine biology. I am an adjunct professor at the University of Miami and have a fellowship with National Geographic. I also have a 10 year old daughter. I keep track of what she watches on YT and recently it's been this channel. Last night I decided to glance through the video's to make sure this was content I wanted my daughter watching. While I'm sure this youtuber has the best of intentions he is NOT someone people should be looking to for how to maintain aquatic species. He endorses markets and trades that are cruel, he keeps his own "pets" in bare minimum setups where the creatures might live, but will likely not thrive. I almost cried over the video where he introduced his octopus. My alarm bell started ringing when he stated in his intro video that he killed his coral 10 times but kept on going. Imagine killing 10 dogs and then stating "but I just kept going". I hope all his coral is grown for aquarium purposes but I doubt it. Most reef coral is harvested, sold, and then the sellers lie about it to their customers. Be kind to all creatures. They aren't here for our amusement or to provide a paycheck.
@@kennethhongnguyen6701 i dont know what you meant, but wild discus are more scared because: they seen a human only a couple times, and in Amazon river there are predators that are stronger than them, so they cant be as brave as human made because someone can eat them
That is so cool man! Thanks for showing those beautiful fish. Discus fish are literally my dream fish and I want them so bad but they’re to expensive for me right now.
I think they're good enough for the average hobbyist. Some of the more expensive specimens are quite nicely shaped too with a nice round body and high fins. Now are they going to win Discus shows? No. But the quality is on par with what you see at higher end stores.
Do you mean you prefer the look of wilds to the newly bred captive strains? I know a lot of folks who hate the seemingly artificial colors of domestic strains.
I love this shop!!! My favorite so far. I might have to keep discus at some point. I really like the cream colored ones. So beautiful, and simply elegant.
I need help. I have a 10 gallon and a 25 gallon tank. The 25 always gets so dirty so fast! I do a 85% change every 2 months. Last change my fish got stressed and 4 danios died. How do I do a 10 - 50% change without any problems? My 10 gal is so clean. Haven’t done a change for two months. I know I have to a 20% change soon. I have a common plecostomus and he lives in the 25. I used to put 4 pills a day but that was 4 months ago. Then I put in 2 a day. Then 1 at night. He is SO lazy! I named him lazy because he is lazy. He never cleans. He eats the algae pills but he never cleans the tank! What percentage change should I do and how do I keep it cleaner? For both tanks, I have no background and the lights that came with it. My fish are all healthy now. Just need help with doing my next change
Noelle Khajavi idk what kinda of filter you have, but if you have fish that are producing a lot of waste in a well stocked tank getting a bigger filter might help and do weekly water changes. Also don’t give algae pellets to the pleco all that’s doing is adding algae to ur tank, they should be able to live off the algae and leftover fish pellets. Hope this helps, good luck with your tank!
I love these videos keep up all the good effort and do what you do don’t let anyone put you down off RU-vid you are the best fishtuber keep up all the good work
Discuses have no particular environment other than the tank itself. Where they are located is adaptable to your situation. Discus can adapt to almost any environment as long as that environment has consistent elements of traffic, noise and your interaction with your fish. Maintenance, Water changes and feeding are all important activities that build trust. If you are netting your fish and scaring them more than necessary, each time you approach the tank your fish will be suspect about why. If you make the experience a good one you build trust. Plan long term for your fish so that they can continue throughout their life cycle to experience the same environment and not disrupt their life experiences and patterns. This is True with all Tropical fish but some more than others. Discus fish are in that category where great care in planning a safe and stable environment yields the best results. They are not that fragile, they just need your trust. Good Luck!
lennon lennon no not 3 hours lmao wait like 5-7 days at least, preferably 2 weeks, you have to wait for the initial nitrogen cycle but those frogs are pretty hardy
so I've been watching your vids for awhile now and to be honest I have never really done a saltwater tank before I'm thinking of coming over to the light side of things i have discus, and African chiclids, a community tank and I've even tried my luck at planted tanks I guess my question is this i have a 36 gallon bow front and I've been looking and looking what kind of filter should I get if I don't have the room for a sump???? and I really wasn't looking into getting one of the all in one tanks either...i want to know all of the in's and outs... any help would be great
Your videos are so relaxing to me I find myself watching your videos at night when I can’t sleep 😂I end up dreaming of fishes 🐠🐠😂 I hope you become super famous 🎥 because I can tell you have true passion for this
How big of a tank do u have For your clownfish I’m getting Salt water soon will a 18.492 Gallon be ok for 2 clownfish and some other fish/invertebrates ?
I found the video very interesting and useful. Thank you for making this. This must have been a new shop. I didn’t see it on my last visit to Thailand.
I have developed a nice hustle regarding Dicsus fish . I purchase them 2-3 inches from a fish wholesale in Queens called I Fish . I pay $20 for each . Within a year they grow nice and colorful . Then I sell them back to a Fish store for about $75 a piece . This prevents me fromhaving to o to get
I agree. The discus is one of the most beautiful fresh water breeds, but they are soooo sensitive and skiddish. I can't justify the cost versus loss, so no discus for me😣
The black bars are only present when they are scared, or getting stressed. A stressed discuss will go very dark in colour. Also, discus naturally come in tanin tainted water, so prefer that. Generally, you need to provide bamboo or some bark with shaded (from plants) areas they can go hide or relax. Most slow moving non aggressive fish can be kept with them. I've kept school of tetra's (all kinds), danios, Plecs, even angels (although when they get big you have to be careful). Most tame discuss can be fed with your hands, and they live around 20 years. If you want to breed, it's better to keep them in a place they won't get disturbed in a bare bottom tank. They'll eat their eggs and fry if they feel threatened, stressed or are in bad quality water.
Dude that is not even closer to the biggest fish shop in the world. Take a trip to Glaser aquarium in Rodgau Germany. And beside, a breeder has completely defferent prices
