Actually Sweden gives out every Nobel prize except the Peace prize. It is given out in Norway. And I think you should look into more about Sweden since he missed most of the great things about Sweden.

Yes the peace prize it given out in Oslo, Norway as it is stipulated in Alfred Nobel's will. Norway was rules by Sweden in a union at the time but no one is sure why he wanted Norway to give out the peace prize, but some thing it is the harsh critic he got in Sweden for his inventions that was used in wars (He was known as the merchant of death). He among other things invented the dynamite that and he was instrumental in turning the Iron and steel company of Bofors into a weapons manufacturer.

Yeah i have no idea why no one knows this. The Nobel peace prize is in Oslo and it's kinda bogus anyway. I mean Henry Kissinger won it, Barack Obama and The EU? I'm sure there are plenty more of doubtful examples. The real important prices which actually has meaning is in Stockholm.

We also have a huge music export. Behind almost every single world hit there is a Swede. Maybe Max Martin who is the biggest/best producer in the world. And we got a big impact in the EDM industry with artists like Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Alesso, Eric Prydz, Galantis, Otto Knows etc. And don't forget that the founders of for example Spotify, Volvo, SoundCloud, Ikea, Minecraft, H&M and much more are Swedes ;)

I don’t think those facts were the most interesting, so I’ll try to give some more. About the weather, it can get cold. I live a little south, but not so much and here it got 30C last week, and -15C in the winter. It changes very fast too. Monday this week it was 29 and sunny, but tuesday (yesterday) it was 14 and a little rain. I like late spring/early fall the most though, because it’s beautiful (but all the green and the snow is too..) and I like the temperature the most when it’s between 10-20. Also, Sweden is big in the music industry. ABBA and Avicii come from here and a lot of producers too (both the guys in Swedish idol for example). A lot of great companies/big names come from Sweden, some are: Spotify, H&M, IKEA, Volvo Sweden also has the most inventive people in the world and a lot of things we use everyday is from here. For example the seatbelt every single car uses now is invented by a swede. Also the guy that made the GPS/satellite navigation. About the politics, we right now have a socialist government, which we’ve had since the beginning of the 1900’s, with small exceptions. Our conservatives can be compared to USA’s democrats. We pay about 30% in taxes which some think is too much, but we get a lot back. All children get contributions worth around $140 every month from birth to their 16th birthday, and it doesn’t matter if the family is rich or poor. After that you can get the same amount of money if you continue your studies after elementary school. Dental care is free for everyone up to the age of 23. Healthcare is free if you have to do something big, like a surgery, if the price for the healthcare goes over a certain amount of money, it’s always free. All schooling is free, and there is ”CSN” that can give you extra contributions, like if you have to move to go to your school or if your family don’t have money. Sweden is also succesful in many sports. For example: Peder Fredricson is the world number two in showjumping (horses) and the last month the swedish showjumping team has won two nations cup in a row. Sarah Sjöström is also a great swimmer, she gets medals in every competition she takes part in. In school, 9 years is obligated. Then you can choose if you want to go to “high school” for three years, which 99% do. We have Swedish lessons, but also English from 1-3 grade and from 6/7 grade we get to learn either Spanish, french or German. In high school you can continue with that language or choose a new. That means most of the Swedish people can speak at least 3 languages. (But not soo good) Girls are much better in school than boys. The school lunch is also free. I don’t know if this was boring or so, but I hope not hahah. Well, this was a novel (and it took me 30 minutes to write xD) I am 15 years old and finished elementary school last month, I’ll be moving by myself to go to a horse specialised high school in August. I live in south west Sweden and I love your reactions!!

Another interesting fact is that only one out of ten Swedes actually know how much taxes they pay. Most Swedes would be delighted if they actually payed as "little" as 30% in taxes (and that would be too much still, 30% is about an average municipality tax but there are many more taxes such as state tax, alcohol tax etc). The truth is that an average nurse in an average municipality in Sweden pays more than 50% in taxes if you take into account moms (~VAT,) and employment fees that an employer is obliged to pay in order to hire you*. Source: skattebetalarna.se/rakna-ut-din-skatt/ Unfortunately our educationsystem has a far too positive reputation abroad mostly due to ignorance. Our overrated when it comes to actual cost and results. But in spite of and not due to all that we are still doing surprisingly well for such a small country. * Some say that it is unfair to count employment fee since it is a fee from the employer to the state, but it is directly related to how much your employer pays you in salary (in a convoluted way as always), it cannot be negotiated. If the employer were not obliged to pay it the cost would obviously be less and your ability to negotiate a higher salary for yourself would be higher. That it is called a fee and that the employer pays it is just clever linguistics.
@moirajonsson4152
@moirajonsson4152 5 лет назад
Joakim Ohlrogge The thing about education is definitely true! In my old school class the average for boys wasn’t even passing in all subjects. (150 out of 340, 160-170 is E in all subjects) The average for whole my school was 210/340. So when it comes to results and grades it’s not good at all. When I was there it actually was pretty good environment and at least half of the teachers were amazing! But the explanation for that is probably that the municipality I live in was the best school-township in Sweden for 2018. If you don’t drink alcohol that much, skip airplanes or don’t have a car for example you’re not affected by those extra taxes ;) But I don’t know that much about economy so yeah
@johlinator
@johlinator 5 лет назад
@@moirajonsson4152 I only adressed the tax part and what we get for it. The "point taxes" like alcohol, tobacco, gas is not a big part, it is calculated as 1% of the income as a country average in the example (that means less than 1% of what the employer pays tho employ you). So in theory you could in avoid that 1%. Employment fee and moms is a different story. For most people it would still put you at close to 50% and if you earn more than a nurse or live in a municipality with high taxes: even more. I enjoyed most of your reply and it contained a lot of interesting facts. You are forgiven to be misinformed or ignorant about how much we actually pay, as I said 9 out of 10 swedes are. And you are forgiven to think that it is worth it in terms of what we get back, it is for one part subjective and you ate of course entitled to your opinion. Your opinion reflects the Swedish opinion much better than mine. I think part of that is sunk cost fallacy, if we pay that much we want it to be worth it. Another part is a general confusion in sweden about where our wealth actually comes from, it predates Socialism. We would all be well served to actually compare ourselves with other countries. A little bit like this channel does with mostly music. I'm sorry if I come across as rude and/or grumpy. I just wanted to correct the tax part since it is so commonly underestimated and nuance the wellfare part since I think it's reputation is a little bit too favorable, mostly abroad. But we also have a lot to be proud of and I think that is mostly not due to politics.

@@ReactToTheWorld It is unclear why Nobel wished the Peace Prize to be administered in Norway, which was ruled in union with Sweden at the time of Nobel's death. The Norwegian Nobel Committee speculates that Nobel may have considered Norway better suited to awarding the prize, as it did not have the same militaristic traditions as Sweden. It also notes that at the end of the 19th century, the Norwegian parliament had become closely involved in the Inter-Parliamentary Union's efforts to resolve conflicts through mediation and arbitration.

Sweden can on average reach + 20-30 degrees celsius in the summer(very rarely above 25 though, but consistently above 20). And as low as -40 degrees celsius in the coldest areas(those far up north and near rivers, mountains, lakes or the sea) in the winter( *most places never go below -25, and the average really cold day is at about -20* ). The most common temperatures are between -18 and +18 throughout the year. With spring and fall varying between -7 and +16 on average(yes it can literally swing between those temperatures in a day in some places, as it moves towards, or away from winter). In short, if you want to live in a country with great variation? Sweden is actually something of an ideal. But you have to be somewhat adaptable.

Sweden is not that cold! It depends on where you live. In Malmö it's pretty hot and in Lappland that's more in the north it's pretty cold.

Global warming can actually make Sweden cooler, if the Arctic ice melts too fast, the Gulf Stream can move, as the Gulf Stream helps keep the temperature higher in Scandinavia (especially in winter), so global warming can make the weather in Sweden cooler.

Well........ without the problems to know that Sweden and Switzerland is two totally different countries with a distance för over 2000 km between them, in Europe, we have Chris Kläfford, you know ( -- : (And , yes Sweden makes very good chocolate, too and it´s a beautiful country, in all ways.)

Actually, this video reflects a Sweden from the eighties. Things have changed A LOT !. While the technical evolution is true, it is also trur (unffortunately) that the welfare state is going down the drain since about 15 years. Schools and health care remain public but levels have sunk radically . Health care is not, never was , entirely free. You do pay a small proportion for it and some people even refrain from going in order not to spend 20-30 dollars just for a short visit. Schools have sunk to below EU average. Do NOT confuse with Finland that indeed has a good school system. Best in the world after South Korea I think. And since 2010, and especially 2014 murder rate, riots, gangrapes, shootings, sexual assault etc is skyrocketing. It is now 10 times as likely a swedish young man i s shot, than a german guy (in Germany, that is). The ranks of homeless are growing and 15% of the retired are below the EU limit for poverty, many of whom actually sleep in the streets and being cared for by private volonteers as the government looks the other way. I could go on and on and on but I won´t. It´s tragic how this image of the perfect Sweden still remains and is still spread by videos like this. I realise you don´t mean to spread a false picture but it´s what it is......Unfortunately, not even Chris Kläfford and his great music can remedy this. So don´t get things mixed up. Just because there was ABBA, Europe and now Kläfford doesn´t make a country immune to entering a negative cycle. Never forget that

Actually Sweden was/is not home to the Vikings. Sweden was INVADED by tbe Vikings as well as Denmark, Finland, Iceland and other countries. There is a difference. Yes. They were/are Scandinavian. But Sweden's not where they originated from. Best wishes.

Swedish pop music is the best in the world. Don't believe me? Consider these facts. Sweden is the largest exporter of pop music per capita in the world. In fact, regardless of population only 10 millions, Sweden is currently the third largest exporter of music in the world, just behind the US and the UK. In 2010, it is estimated that Swedish pop music exports totalled more than $820 million.

Global warming affects Scandinavia harder than the rest of Europe. In Sweden 2020 it has not rained in 5 months, it is only now that there will be some rain 1-5 mm but the plants quickly absorb this. Last winter there was almost no snow in southern Sweden and no rain. The trees began to shed their leaves already in the month of August, normally during the month of October, due to this drought. In 2018 we had the hottest summer in over 200 years, the temperature did not go below 30 degrees Celsius in the shade for 4 months, it was only in November that we had 5-10 degrees Celsius but no rain. It is only a matter of time before some trees and animals begin to disappear because they are used to the cold. You can already see it on the Christmas tree and some animals that are used to a lot of snow. We in Sweden have four seasons. In southern Sweden, we only have three seasons in the last 10 years. But some years we have had winter that quickly disappears.

I super wish I could show you some Google search things that you guys would really find super cool but I think my favorite things to tell Americans (now that I live in the US) is about wildlife. Especially to tell my stories about wild hedgehogs that end up so unafraid of people that one just sat on my shoe once. The adults are about the size of half a soccer ball but the babies that waddle after the moms when they cross the roads are literally the cutest. Secondly; I love talking about the squirrels because they have super fluffy tails and lynx tufts of hair on their ears which I definitely miss a lot. The American grey and red squirrels are cute too but I think the lynx ears wins the cuteness factor. What's also fun to talk about is my Northern Sweden experiences because most things people find online is usually about Stockholm so I tell memories about moose and reindeer, lynx and bears, even wolves, foxes and wolverines, snowmobile culture which is massive in the north, dog sledding and northern lights memories which is a more rare experience of mine. And the May bonfire that happens on the last evening of April, or in a more serious chat I might bring up that if you openly are proud of your flag like if you have one in your car you are very likely accused of being racist and your car can be completely vandalized so people are very reserved about showing pride unless it's a sport event related pride. I felt relieved moving to America because I could finally be proud.
