During my recent visit to Kyoto, I had the pleasure of dining at Beijingtei, a popular local restaurant renowned for its generous portions and unique menu. This eatery, now run by the second-generation owner, upholds the founding philosophy: "Make sure everyone leaves full." This principle is evident in the restaurant's popularity among students and locals alike.
Unique Menu Highlights
Beijingtei is famous for its distinctive dishes, which are not available anywhere else. Some of the standout items include:
Genkotsu Sweet and Sour Pork: A hearty and flavorful twist on the classic sweet and sour pork.
Ninton Rice: A garlic lover's dream, loaded with plenty of garlic.
Guts Noodles: A substantial serving of noodles, 1.5 times the usual portion.
On my visit, I was indulged in the "Triple," a Ninton Rice dish topped with nine large pieces of karaage (Japanese fried chicken). Despite the enormous portion, the delicious flavor of the Ninton Rice made it surprisingly easy to finish most of the dish. If you can't finish your meal, takeout is available.
Location: 17-1 Shimo-Wakakusa-cho, Murasakino, Kita-ku, Kyoto, 603-8234, Japan.
