This video shows the Full Sized functional mechanism which will furl and unfurl Harmony's blade pairs. It can do this while spinning and producing power and without any mechanical brake. This will allow our turbine to function at optimal power output even during extreme winds.

I do some tinkering I don't need to tell you the mechanics you have their cerrar brilliant I'm a solar user and Battery Builder and I think this is ingenious

I am working on it. I just got my sidewall material in the mail so over the next few weekends I'll be making scoops :) Lots of them. I need to make 10 total for 5 pairs.

I have a Genuine Question Since I Liked this Project from the Beginning and I wish you all the success that you Rightfully Deserve.. But..! How you think this Improved the Vertical Turbines who are Predisposed to Sustain Wind Speeds up to 100m/s? I know not every vertical Turbine can do so... Is this more Performant in catching Low Winds Speeds because of Higher Surface? [I might have already asked this question... I am Happily Enjoying Upgrades over your work]

In order for you to be able to open and close while turning at high speed you must create a gear system such as vehicle transmissions. This allows you to close and open without the system being stopped.

Hi James, the furling mechanism locks the furling state at whatever % open it was when power was removed so if it's at 90% open then that's exactly where it holds until power it applied in either one direction or another. It's going to be controlled by an onboard Raspberry Pi or Arduino computer so it optimize power production in the current wind conditions. I' curious what kind of governor would rotate the blade control tube, centrifugal flyweights, yes, sliding ? up & down a helical cam tube? Picture a yankee screwdriver action. just curious.

If you watch my Aluminum casting videos you'll see the use of a "worm winch" in those. Basically a wormgear will engage the furling shaft gear tangentially and as soon as power is applied the worm gear spins say 100 revolutions to just 1 revolution on the shaft. Very strong from a torque standpoint and and super precise small slow moves which is what I want. Also when you are done applying power to the wormgear the scoops are held securely at whatever angle you stopped without any additional input from the wormgear motor. Just like my foundry I can take my hand off of the handle and the crucible doesn't move ...it holds strong and steady. A simple small onboard Arduino or Raspberry Pi computer will monitor the RPM's and control furling both open and close algorithms.

sure that will take some engineering if we hope to deploy in areas where snow is prevalent but there are a number of things we can do to help with that issue. Right now that's not the main concern... finishing the prototype and gathering performance data is our main goal right now.
