Robert, what you do with your videos is much more than just assembling pretty pictures. It’s a symphony orchestrating just the right touch of narrative to video, the art of perfect musical blend, and knowing when to just let the video do the talking. You do it to perfection where others just show home movies. Well done sir! I continue to enjoy each adventure.
Robert what can I say that has been said already, but this, I watch your videos every Sunday night later in the evening, I have lots of medical issues, but watching and hearing your music seems to let my issues go away for a short time. I want to thank you for that time for my body is at peace, I also live in Florida, Cape Coral area again Thank you, be safe and at Peace....
Robert, if you stay active you will be able to do hikes like this for a long time. We live near the Blue Ridge mountains and I am 61. The leader of our hiking group is 78 and we can't keep up with him. He can hike 12 miles in the mountains in a day. I want to recommend, though, that you figure out a way to hike with hiking poles, preferably two of them. Because the older we get, the more disastrous a fall can be. This video was magnificent. Thank you for taking us along with you up there.
Capitol reef was beyond words. We did some hiking in Utah and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon but never made it to Capitol Reef and now in our 80's won't likely do it but really appreciated that I could do it through you. A very special place.
Death-defying mountains ⛰️ tops and views 😍. The 4k is crazy holy smokescreen's hahaha. Good choice on the 🌯🌯🥙🍴. Keep climbing to the top, give it all you got , give it all you got 👍.
That Cassidy Arch switchback section is not for the faint of heart for sure. Kicked all of our butts and we’re fairly young and experienced. I would love to go back to Capitol Reef. It really felt like you had the park to yourself most of the time.
I enjoyed your hike to Cassidy Arch. I am turning 70 in a couple of months, and struggled with moderate canyon hikes in Zion & Bryce Canyon NPs last summer. Your comments about aging hit home as I considered putting your hike on my bucket list. Hiking poles & steroid shots in my knees help a lot, but it's getting difficult scrambling up boulders and hiking steeper grades (especially downhill). Once again, thank you for taking us along
Ask your knee specialist if hydraluronic acid injections would be appropriate. It provides cushioning and apparently lasts for about six months. Medicare covers it, but no other insurance does.
Spectacular video Robert! The arch is called that because the bandit Butch Cassidy had a refuge there. He escaped the law and came to Argentina and settled in Patagonia in Cholila. Here in Cholila is the old cabin that he built next to Sundance Kid.
Absolutely beautiful country!! I’m not able to hike those trails anymore so it’s wonderful to have your camera catch those scenery area I can’t see otherwise. Thank you!!
Spectacular video Robert!!! Your videography skills never cease to amaze me! What beautiful scenery as well ! I look forward to each and every one your post with anticipation and you never disappoint! But my favorites are always of the Western states ❤ Thank you SO much for granting all your viewers the Awesome gift of sharing your wonderful adventures & of course making it so special with your music! ❤ safe travels!
Another wonderful hike. You have amazing talent with your photography, your musical compositions and your great editing. And your narrations are entertaining as well. Keep up the good work Robert. You're a special gift to us.
Thanks for documenting this, Rob. I have lived in Utah for almost 4 years and haven't made it out there yet. I will before I leave. Active Duty Air Force here. I will be doing some BLM camping before I leave in that region. Thanks brother
What a wonderful video! Your hike to Cassidy Arch is up there with your best hikes, in my opinion anyway. I love how happy you are on this trail and I also love your running commentary while walking. You are such a lovely person. Thank you for giving us a chance to see the world though your camera lens
So glad you were able to make the hike up to the Cassidy Arch and share the video. We were there in the Fall of 2020. You are so right in that you really need to take these trips and hikes while you can and still capable. I was in my mid 70's and knew I just couldn't make the Cassidy Arch hike so thank you for sharing your adventure. In the Fall all of those orchards are ripe with apples and pears etc and you're allowed to pick them. I didn't see you stopping at the Gifford House for a pie so you missed out on that treat :-)
Yeah Capitol Reef - my favorite of the 5 national parks here in Utah. I love the Grand Wash - just a nice little walk with very little elevation change.
Very nice scenery. I laughed when you said you might need to use the bathroom and then said you were close to the edge. I wasn't sure if you were talking about the hike or your bathroom situation. Lol. Take care.
23:02 is called Ferns Nipple. Lucky you. I was there with my younger brother last week, June 2024. The road was closed just past the Gifford house by then.
Capitol Reef is so beautiful, I can’t imagine what this must be like to breathe this all in, in person, let alone getting deep into the landscape by way of a hike. This was captured and crafted so well-just fantastic footage, as always. Hiking is on hold at the moment, due to an old injury rearing its ugly head, so I am thrilled to hear you say you are doing this while you still can. Absolutely. The ability to do it can be wiped away in a single day, and such an experience should never be taken for granted. Thank you for inspiring those who can, to go. And for helping the rest of us who can’t, see what lies far beyond the trailhead parking lots. Watching this (twice!) only strengthens my determination to do everything in my power to get back out there. And I will. Again, thank you so much!
Dang finding spots where us "average Joes" don't feel like walking to, or hiking to...scenery out there in Utah are such wonderous to view. I just wish my viewing can see it in 4K....Superduper work ~
Wow, Wow, Wow! Excellent video, Robert! You are always fearless hiking those narrow paths 1000s of feet above the trailheads. Capitol Reef is now on my to-do list. Thanks for sharing!!!
This place is so absolutely beautiful and stunning! I hope to visit later this year but you are a braver soul than I lol, Ieven if I was able to physically handle that severe of a trail, which I am not right now, I would be so afraid of slipping along some of those steeper, skinnier paths along the edge and on the arch! Knowing me I would trip and fall! lol Great job once again sir...loved it!
Robert I've been in a lot of places you have been, unfortunately for me I'm 67 and too old to do these hikes anymore, so at least I can experience them with you, so thanks for documenting all your hikes, I particularly enjoyed Angels Landing last year, I have the courage but not the energy, so like you just stated, do it while you can, and be safe amigo.....Javi G.
Thank you, Robert. It seems you did this March a trip very similar to what I did in April 2023. I always enjoy revisiting familiar places, with your perspective. You are welcome visiting my channel for complete POV videos of some other trails in Capital Reef, and many other places . Cheers.
@@TravelingRobert Ohh... I have plenty of videos for those. I did a single day R2R2R early May this year, a partial R2R2R (upper north Kaibab trail was closed) in April 2023, and another R2R2R in May 2021 (recorded only parts on camera). Are you planning at doing it as a single day hike? By the way, since you did the Alaska Delton road last year, I can't get it out of my head. I added it to my to do list. Cheers.
Robert you will be 53 this year you said? You are young still and you can do a lot more believe me? I am 67 and I enjoy doing all sorts of activities enjoy the years as they come by. Cheers.
Awesome... Robert. If possible sometime please share some music details of your song... like what scale and what notes if someone wants to play the song. 😀😀
Is the Alltrails app reliable in that canyon? Nevermind, I just saw you have that under control. I have the same problem tracing where a trailhead begins.
A small thing I noticed as a long time viewer: I feel the lav mic is detracting from the experience. I always watch with good headphones, and now all the nuance and depth of the natural soundscape is lost. Like when walking in the canyon, we can't hear the echo of your steps on the gravel, or any sound at all really. You tried describing the soundscape, both silence and hearing the echoes of other hikers far away in a specific direction, and both times we heard nothing. Also the experience of being there WITH you while you talk directly to US is kinda replaced by you narrating what you see and hear while we can't hear much at all. I understand the camera mic vs lav mic is a whole science that most content makers struggle with. Video work was incredible as always!
I forgot to mentions your ankle mishap if I remember correctly was in my neighborhood Picacho Peak right? I have driven by there hundreds of times and always thought about hiking it, unfortunately procrastination got the best of me and now I'm too old, take care.....Javi G.
Hey Robert,, great to hit the trail with you this morning. Two things I like as much as the silence while hiking in the canyons: the whoosh whoosh whoosh of raven wings when they fly overhead and the cascading trill of canyon wrens. The Mexican restaurant in Torrey looks good, but the best place in town (Cafe Diablo, famous for their rattlesnake cakes 🙂) sadly closed down several years ago. I really like the perspective of you hiking across the slickrock beginning at 29:16--it brings back so many memories of the trails out there. be As you've shown, there are so many fantastic vistas in Capitol Reef. My favorite of them all is looking out to Pectol's Pyramid from the Navajo Knobs trail. (as seen in the "northwest aspect" image on wikipedia). Until next time, happy trails!
