It is good to know how to start a fire, but you disassembled the very thing you could you to start a fire and then spent a lot of time and energy to do the very thing the aforementioned item is designed for. SMH, seems silly. Nessmuck and Kephart both carried match safes and I would bet spent a lot more time outdoors than most of us do.

So if you have your pocket knife on you all the time and you have this added on. And let’s say your lighter runs out of fluid. Let’s say that it’s very damp out. Let’s say that you lost your lighter. These are the reasons why you add that type of DIY. What if you are not a smoker and don’t have a lighter on you, but you have your knife and you need to make a fire?
