I play it on shakuhachi but this concert flute player uses the right timbre for each note that it gets close to Japanese beauty/sound!

OMG never knew the composer. I had the sheet music from my grandpas attic but tops of several were torn off. There were lyrics . I was looking up Hana and found this after -yikes!- 40 years to near the date. and played it with accordian and my viola. And I misremembered the title for years

I still think it sounds better on shakuhachi, but you did a wonderful job on the Boehm flute. Beautiful performance.

How strange to hear this song with western instruments! They have perfectly captured the original's feeling *o* but, somehow, the notes fit together in a way that's too 'pretty.' Still it's a masterful rendition!

That was beautiful. But in my humble opinion the rendition sung by an elementary school student from the United States is the best ever. Jackie performed this while in Japan. The song is only available on the Japanese edition of Songs From The Silver Screen album. Jackie Evancho: Moon Over the Ruined Castle (荒城の月/汉语字幕/japanese song)

Charming and soothing. It would never have occurred to me that the harp and western flute could substitute so beautifully for traditional Japanese instruments. Insofar as Jackie Evancho's interpretation of this is concerned, could there ever have been any question that it would be the best ever? R. {:-)

Sounds like maybe the CD Rampal & Lily Laskine did called "Sakura - Japanese Melodies for Flute and Harp (1978)". This song was the first piece on the CD.
