Seville is probably my favourite Spanish city. I have always loved in Seville that if you show an interest, people are so kind. Triana used to be a seafood stall by the river when I first started going there. Magic. Going back in the next few weeks for the first time in 6 years. Can't wait.
James ! this is amazing! I feel very honored by your videos about my hometown Seville. You are quite accurate on everything you’re portraying from the local culture! Enhorabuena de verdad 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
my good wife and I are trying a few of your tapas bars . I show your video to the staff at casa cuesta in Seville.. they are so nice .. helpful as we don't habla Espana . 😎
This is a perfect combination to take advantage of the places you featured in this video. As you know James, Triana is the next door neighborhood to Los Remedios. My mom and I have been traveling in Spain for over two weeks and are spending our final time in Seville in my mother in law's Piso...in August! Yes, we are crazy. Last night I decided we'd visit the Tapas Bars you featured in this video. We didn't get too far mainly because we got full. Our first stop was Bar Santa Ana. We ordered their Vermouth and goat/sheep/cow milk cheese tapa. Very nice start! We also spoke with the owner. He's a very nice man. While there, a couple asked me if I speak English. Turns out, they we're at the same bar because of your video too. Nice huh? Our second and final restaurant was Las Golondrinas. We tried all four dishes from your video; the radishes, the pork loin, the mushrooms and the carrots. It was all amazingly delicious. But the surprise star was the carrots. Wow! I just wanted to say thanks for the great RU-vid content.
Sevilla es fantastica. Watching the second bar and talking about the shrimp with the heads still on reminds me of being in Spain. Probably 30 years ago I was eating in one of my favorite restaurants in Tossa de Mar, Girona. Maria, half of the husband and wife team who owned the restaurant, came to my table with a big smile. Guillermo, she said, we have special of shrimp from Blanes, they are so fresh you can even eat the heads!
Just wanted to say a huge thank you, James! I have been watching your videos and found them very helpful. I can see that you put great effort and love into your work. I'm off to Seville soon to stay there for a few months so your channel has proved to be valuable research of what to expect!
Love the Videos really friendly easy going enjoyable viewing. Lived in Valencia province for 5 years but still learning so much. Back home in Brighton UK but visiting Seville in September. Are the tapas tours still going?
James your spanish is perfect. Congratulations! Not many people from UK could show such high level with the language, something i couldn't say with my english xD.
These videos are fantastic. My girlfriend and I are heading to Spain in October. Going to go to Barcelona, Madrid, Seville and Cadiz. Your videos have been a great help. We love to go to the local places. Will tell you about it when we return. Rick Z. & Pat C.
Awesome video...!! Delighted to see some great veggies on menu..im a meat lover but a veg lover too!! Love their passion for life and food and get-togethers! Thank you.
Todavía no has ido a Asturias?
Hi JamesJust back from Seville after a week long Taps crawl. Just a thank you to you & your colleagues for the guidance of how & where to get the best tapas experience possible.RegardsRamsay
You need to add the Spanish as well as the English label on your graphics. For example, at Las Golondrinas, is that awesome looking pork loin ("Dame uno") the caña de lomo or is it the caballito de jamon? And for the radishes, it's rabanillas (¿Si?).
Haha - you're just seeing the good bits! There's lots of normal bits that don't make the videos (though I tend to feature a bit more of my everyday life on my Instagram @jamesblickspain
Loved the video James!! I now know I have to go to Seville to try that tortilla. You still have to try jamón asado in Granada ;-), best tapa ever, and it's free!!!
Love love love you and Yali (definitely spelling that wrong). My husband and I are on the way to Madrid and Sevilla next week- we will be spending time with locals- do you think they will be insulted when we suggest where to eat based on your videos? Hahahaha
i’m going to Seville in 10 days and i don’t eat pork so i’m a little sad at the immense amount of ham and pork haha but even more excited to try all the different tapas!
Great video! But as someone who has been living in 🇪🇸 for 2 years, you don't get your veggies very often. Aside from that, I agree with everything you said James
Hi James. Only just seen this one and it's possibly my favourite. So many great memories of Triana and the rest of Sevilla. I'm off to Ibiza tomorrow for a week's chill out with local friends. Despite the heavy package tourism, there are still some great bars for tapas and restaurants if you know where to go. I think you and Yoly should do some research there. Gracias.
James, I saw another vid with you on the other side of the Rio de G. and thought: What's going on here? Lost⬅️👀➡️? You finally got to the right barrio.🎯
Great video again James! Love making tortilla but have never heard of that whiskey sauce. Seems crazy and definitely something I need to try! How would the Sevillanos call that? A quick google turned up nothing. Thanks!
Thank you! Yeah, the sauce usually goes with meet, such as the dish solomillo al whisky... very popular in Seville. So this is a twist on that. Enjoy and let me know how the recipe goes! Do you make your tortilla with or without onion???
@@anaworld4354 ,I see you commenting all this kind of vids. Are you from Seville? I'm not ( I'm from Asturias) but I live here ( Seville) since 2001. ¿ Sevilla o Betis? Jajaja
Serious question here, not trying to be facetious......and I am taking five seconds to think about this before pressing enter.... but is all Spanish food called tapas?
No not at all. Tapas is simply a way of eating small plates to share. Which is generally how we eat when we’re out in bars. At home we often have a plate of food to ourselves. But throughout Spanish culture there is a tradition of sharing plates (like in China) so the tapas “way” runs through so much of how we eat
yeeee i live in triana and saw my damn house in the video , im like a dog with his stick when that happens hahaha (i live 3 min away from las golondrinas so luckily i ate those things a lot hahahaha)
By the way.. Tapas.... i saw that around.. Isn't that like almost like the terms of (sushi train food) like the asian style... little tiny foods on rice but the spanish version is on a cut bread over something. It sort of reminds me something like sushi food. But more diferent taste and style of course. I could be wrong but someone can let me know!
This channel has a video on what tapas are exactly so watch that for a more in depth explanation. Tapas are more like a way of eating rather than a specific food
Quite useful videos for those going to these places for the 1st time as hit and miss blind bar or restaurant visits often disappoint. However for specific tapas not so helpful as this chap makes the TV foodie presenters big error. Everything he tastes is wonderful, superb etc. From 25 years experience as a chef and 50 years eating around the world I find it the other way around. Occasionally something is wonderful etc. Usually a bit disappointing or average. Be more critical to make me keep watching.
I wish you’d post names of restaurants below and perhaps addresses. This is why I trust Trip Adviser and major newspapers like Telegraph. They handle the details better than “Oh, hey, just go to this neighbourhood and find these places. Beware seat of the pants, amateurish RU-vid reviews like this one.
Hi Sue, the name of each bar is onscreen when I arrive and also in the description box below. Google maps will get you to each. This amateur wishes you a great time in Seville. :)
Las Golodrinas is a Tourist Trap and I am suprised you are sending there subscribers to your channel. This is worst place in Seville to go for tapas. They give you extremely small amount of wine. With Tapas they will place bread on the table and then charge you 2 Euros a person for bread. You will pay almost as much for a shitty bread as for a tapas. I am very dissapointed I (subscriber to your cahnnel) went there on your recommendation.
