But you also have to remember that we've already gone through this phase of history. This is a 2nd world country that's just now going through industrialization. They'll be up to our level soon enough.

Your right about these obsolete production methods haven't been used in the modern countries in a 100 years. For example the sheet metal parts would be made complete on a modern punch press one every 2 seconds. The parts would be plated in a modern barrel plating system. The parts would be polished in vibratory bowel. The assemblies would be done using automatic rivet feeders and assembly fixtures. There is no excuse to use these primitive production processes. These workers aren't noble artisans. They're stuck in a cycle of poverty because the rest of world has moved on and they're still using buggy whip technology in the days of microchips.

Given that they're using galvanised steel, which should be more corrosion resistant, it does seem like a lot of work and expense to apply further coating!

@Peter Peter Its relative poverty because they only pay them enough for them to eat. Many people in the West already send money to help relatives overseas on top of the government taxes they are forced to pay. The difference between the wealthy and poor in the third world is far greater than what we have here in the US or Europe because they pay close to nothing for labor. How about you go there and do the same job if you don't think its so bad.

if you stop consuming meat, sussage and burgers and so on and try to not being a cat-like but human or at least lower your consumption a lot, then certainly and easily you could sit on the ground as they do. It is common in Asia to work on the floor, including in Japan. There are videos of Japanese woodworkers sitting on the floor and working. The advantage is that you have a larger suface area, parts won't fall off. You can also use your feet to hold things down.
