+Sammy what the hell are you talking about??? You know nothing about Desiree Washington, nothing! I happen to have intimate knowledge of that case and he did in fact rape her. I bet you were unaware that the Tyson camp offered her on multiple occasions lots of money to drop the charges. After the trial and subsequent conviction Ms. Washington never even sued him civilly. You see it was never about money, she just wanted the man who raped her to be held accountable. Nobody, and I mean nobody deserves to be raped. Shame on you
People have tendency generally to underestimate spirituality and intellect those who have proven previopusly in realmof physical.Thwy focus on outerlayeerr completely o0r observe him as primitive beast.
@@glenalguire6960 facts especially being a kid in Brownsville right before the beginning of the crack epidemic!!!! Mike wouldn't of stood a chance no matter how tough he turned out!!!!! There's literally nobody his age from the neighborhood & era alive or free today that was robbing ppl back then or selling dope!!!! Cus was literally his father & guardian angel & his literal guardian!!!! Without Cus there would be no Mike & without Mike most folks today wouldn't remember Cus & had his legendary legacy live on either 💯 it would have died with Floyd Patterson & Jose Ortiz
The interviewer deserves credit for well-informed questions and giving Tyson space and time to give long answers. Tyson has walked out on many interviews. This guy knows how to provide a prompt and wait for a full response. Well done!
"A room without a book is like a body without a soul. It's the only way that we can connect the future with the past." -Iron Mike Tyson I wish I can like this video twice... What a legend.
I'm in tears right now because he putting his whole life on front street no holds bar. I'm too from brownsville/east New York brooklyn. I'm so proud of him
Same here. I'm from Bushwick and back then if we didn't live in a certain neighborhood, we didn't go there. Ever. Brownsville the most infamous. Respect to all my people from New York.
Truely shows us the real man behind the baddest man on the planet, boxing is a sport your ego will come out knowing your opponent wanna hurt you as much as you wanna him, glad to see a great role model
"I never thought of myself as a great fighter, I was just a great student, I was an astronomical student" "I never take my losses personally" "I'm not afraid of losing in life" "I wont do anything where I dont have a possiblity of being humiliated, because only by doing that will I rise to my best potential" So many great quotes and stories from Tyson in this interview! He has had quite a life on both ends of the spectrum, it's so easy to see and hear how enlightened, authentic, at peace and truly happy he is. He had everything but had nothing, He now has nothing but finally has everything! Amazing indeed!
@@Xdam985 It doesn't, because it has little to do with the interviewer. This is how Tyson always talks in interviews. He's an extremely self aware, intelligent, deep thinking man; ALWAYS. The thing here is, you didn't give Tyson enough credit before you watched this.
I agree with you. I don’t know if it’s the lisp, but I’ve noticed if a person has a speech impediment, people assume they lack intelligence. He’s a highly intelligent man.
Ronnie Coleman I agree. I love his mind so much. Also is amazes me how much different he is from the once violent high strung young man he was. Just shows he aways was this man, but it was eclipsed from his ego & ambitions. Now he is so chill & himself. My favorite person ever. I would rather chat it up with Tyson than Pres Obama any day. The fact that be can share his weaknesses & faults is just awesome to me & shows more character than someone like Kayne West a person I also love, but rather speaks about his triumphs, accomplishments & talents instead.
He does. He is a living testament, testimony more. Can't speak for how much people he reached to as strong as me. But imapcts me for the better everytime I watch him speak. You have a bigger imapct on people by sharing your weaknesses & defeats far more than you sharing your strengths & accomplishments and that is as honest as I can be from what I learned from people like him.
Mr. Meeseeks Not by his own choice, since amateurs hes been tryna help comfort his opponents after matches and his trainers and mentors ordered him not to, they also trained him to take on this violent, ferocious ego, this mike you see now is the real mike before the people took advantage of his status and wealth
@@auxie-3635 well said and you're absolutely correct. He has always been an emotional man and has always shown that side of him if you look back and see how he reacted before everyone came in and tore him down. Now he's finally found himself again.
Absolutely. I thought our world was empty of true thinkers and philosophers. He is one. People just don't dig deep enough to see and hear his profound gems.
Yes. Just because he’s not articulate with a smooth voice people think he’s stupid. He’s a great thinker. Knows much more than those who talk to him think he does.
my god how i’ve come to love mike tyson. he is a human’s human, as much as I hate that I just said that. it’s the best way I can think to put it- he was a child who was beaten down, was lead to unearth his greatness, was forced to deal with his own greatness without the tools he needed, went to the deepest depths of hell and discovered awful parts of himself equal to the heights of that greatness, and grew a new kind of greatness by himself in order to conquer his own darkness. He proved to himself that he was great beyond his god-given talents by coming out the other side of the spotlight a good man. I admire the fuck out of mike tyson, he deeply inspires me
Well said brother and seems spot on from the outside. Only thing is i bet he would admit(or has admitted) he hasnt conquered his deamons, but rather has gotten really good at keeping most of them surpressed most of the times. I have and will always root for mike to be his best self(or whatever makes him happy as long as it doesnt negatively impact others of course).
I love that this man has been the underdog and underestimated his entire life and has accomplished so much. I respect how he has humbled himself. Thanks for being yourself Mike, we love you.
@@erikarmstrong1831 Yes, underdog. Despite being undisputed WC, he still was an underdog. Every guy he met in the ring thought he could take MT down with ease, cause they were taller, heavier, had more reach, were smarter than Mike. Mike was quite small compared to most other heavy weights. He always had to fight 'in'. Mike always felt scared. Scared to be beat. To be in oblivion again. To not matter. Never forget, aggression is only a way to express fear. When do you get the most aggression? When someone fights for his life. When he's filled with the fear of death. Mike fought every fight with the strongest fear of being defeated. That's what made him the most aggressive boxer man has ever known. Ali was an artist, Mike was - as he calls it himself - ferrocious. Out of fear of becoming unsignificant again. So, yes, underdog.
utmost respect for a woman beater and a rapist and a life long junkie ya ok prove me wrong. He was the worst champ ever. He only beat bums and ducked the best.
And he does it without pretence and articulately. You kind of feel that boxing was a way of him fighting to be heard. A thoughtful, confused individual trying to reconcile where society had placed him. Its almost suggestive of him adopting this persona of Mike Tyson to play to the gallery for some kind of acceptance and/or to vent his anger.
@DR FATE you entirely missed the point of the comment. Are you scared to share your soul with people? Have you been hurt before because you did? Is that why you believe its not an intelligent move?
I hope when I die & make it to the better side of the after life I get to chop it up with Tyson. Love this guy's character & mind so much. Very easy to talk to.
.. MR. TYSON IS A VERY VERY INTELLIGENT MAN, HE BECAME A WELL-READ SCOLAR AND HE´S HONEST, HE KNOWS HOW TO EXPRESS HIMSELF, HE´S OUTSPOKEN AT TIMES AND ALSO VERY HUMBLE ON THE OTHER SIDE ... WE ALL CAN LEARN A LOT FROM HIM ... ON MOST OCCASIONS HE´S INTELLECTUALLY SUPERIOR TO THOSE INTERVIEWING HIM .. HE DESERVES THE GREATEST OF RESPECT FROM ANYONE .. THIS TIME THE INTERVIER HERE IS NO DUMMY EITHER ... REGARDS FROM GERMANY .. GOD BLESS ...
Well the worst thing that happened was he raped a young woman, had to pay and went to prison. When he was young he could be pretty dumb. Now all you see is the man with wisdom and it really is inspirational. Now he's a role model no question about it. Thank you Iron Mike and congrats
@@mikeponzio1587 He was accused... But if you look into the case... The girl had lied about stuff like that before. & Mike maintains his innocence. False claims are plentiful. We are non the wiser.
@@djumalife9379 exactly this, Mike has said he's done many bad things but that wasn't one of them he's even stabbed people but he didn't do that i assure you
I grew up watching his fights when I was in Europe in the late eighties. One of the best interviews I witnessed in my 58 years on this planet. So natural, genuine and articulate individual. Loved him in the eighties and love him more now.
Angie O'Connor greatest boxer of all time? Nope....most exciting of his generation? Yes!! Youngest heavyweight champion? Yes!! But pure science in boxing?...I will take floyd MAYWEATHERs career ahead of tysons...and I love tyson waaaaaaaay better than any boxer...the man tyson..I can relate easily to him aswell
Not! There were many who were greater at boxing than Mike. His boxing skills were pathetic. Greatest Heavyweight FIGHTER? No. The Greatest = Ali. Ali could beat Tyson. Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, etc., could not knock him out and he beat every single one of them. Only Frazier knocked him down! Roberto Duran was a far better boxer than Tyson.
Uchenna Alisigwe, of course that’s your opinion 🤷♂️ But truth remains.... he is the the greatest in the ring. Mike matches none. The rest (even recent) are just like amateurs fighting other to find the winner 🤣🤣
I have always liked Mike Tyson. My late mother met him at a store in the Las Vegas Hilton and she asked for an autograph for her son (me). His security told her no, but she said he was very nice and insisted on signing. I still have the autograph.
Fuck Cicero. I never met Cicero; don't know what he looks like. I do know Mike's struggles and how random quote takes on life when said by a man who has lived it.
What he said about greatness and goodness was deep. He said "all great men aren't good men and you want greatness for self gratification but want goodness from the human perspective. But those two together don't exist, you need to pick a side" I'm happy to see the man mike is today, I think he was always intelligent just misguided
This is one of the best , if not the best Tyson interview I have seen. The interviewer was phenomenal. He asked the right questions and let Tyson speak. Well done crazy German interview man. You have a knack for interviewing .
Dear Mike Tyson, I struggle to find the right words to express my full respect to you..a person, a character a human being with such life experience, you are just incredible and amazing..I take my hat off to you..cheers
Growing up ppl used to make fun of the way Mike talk but this man has so much fyckin wisdom its unbelievable! His only weakness was that he just wanted to be loved and he had fake ppl in his corner that he thought loved him but really didn't. Cus gave Mike the best gift any 14 year old child could have is consciousness. Mike was using the Law of Attraction the whole time. WOW he inspires me so much. I love you Mike you should never hate yourself bc everything you went through was to show us kids that had a hard life and that have made some horrible mistakes that we can be forgiven and get redemption as well. Your living did not go in vain. You were chosen Mike and you are the best, smartest, and fastest fighter I have ever seen in my book and my kids will know about you. I'm buying that book and I will have a picture of you up on my wall of inspirations along with Oprah! Everyone knows Robin, Don King, and Desiree was lying. I LOVE YOU MIKE TYSON!!!
BirdyTheWarrior yes I heard! I'm so excited I watch the Jamie Foxx interviews on RU-vid with him impersonating Tyson, he is so freaking funny! I can't wait Jamie is a phenomenal actor, another great of our times playing a boxing great! OMG I can't handle 😍😍😍
I feel truly grateful that one day I can sit down with my grandchildren, and tell them that I was able to see one of the most ferocious men to ever step in the ring, and tell them he was also one of the most amazing person to ever.
its like when you watch the rogan interview. They put him in this box and cant conceive that he really isnt that person. Rogan wanted to place him as this vicious animal whose all aggression, this audience obviously pegs him as not being a serious person hence the laughter.
I feel the same way, this audience just seem to not understand the way he talks. It's kind of like a laugh track for a sitcom, but it doesn't convey through real life seeing that it's more inappropriate rather than for convenience.
They don't know better and react in this way. Also you have to admit that there are a couple of parts where Mike is laughing himself, so its not very displaced if the audience laughs with him at times.
mike force it’s cause Cus didn’t have enough time. He was running out of time and he wanted to see Mike become the youngest Heavyweight Champion of the world. It’s understandable...
@Tommy.... and you are a convicted moron but you dont see people pointing out that aspect of you all the time.... Oh yeah, thats because you arent known the worl over like Mike Tyson. In fact, no-one knows you because your a nobody
When he talks about his childhood my heart bleeds for him but the thing is is he is not wanting that from us..he is just telling it how it was ..he doesn't want pity but i feel myself giving him that.I think this book is more for himself than for any of us ..its been his salvation, his trials and tribulations, his weakness and his strengths, the rights and wrongs he's done in his life ..a healing process.....
Very well put. I have his book and as I was turning each page I just got the feeling of "He needed to write this down to release it all from his system" You are totally right though, he doesn't want pity or sympathy, he just wants to be recognised as a man who accepts he has done wrong but is doing everything in his power to make it right. I don't think he realises himself just how brave and mentally strong he is now. A true true human champion in my opinion.
It was hilarious when Mike was talking about Pepin The Short and the Frankish Kings, the interviewer was amazed of how much knowledge he had of them and asked “Mike, how do you know all this shit?”
How could one dislike this video? It’s a clear window into the complex mind of Tyson. Truly a great life story and I’m happy that this content exist. Also I give great respect to the man interviewing him. He did his due diligence and let mike talk rather than interrupting frequently.
@Jym E. Changa it's a sadder society when people are so confidently outspoken despite being so ignorant. You clearly are not very familiar with the man he is today
Jesus my mind is blown. Tyson is super intelligent, self-aware and just a real freaking dude. Mad respect. Im picking up his book pronto. Great interviewer as well.
Yup, same here, i always admired Tyson, first for his boxing, i am about his age, so i am witness of his rise and demise, saw many interviews of him, so, after his most turbulent period (my believe is that he was scam with his rapist accusation, and seen who was she, I have little doubt about it) .. and bla,bla But after seeing this interview, i soon gonna buy that book. I also have a complicated past, as Mike will put, so is gonna be interesting, looking for it and full admiration for Tyson, for the calm person he has become in the last 20 years or so
I read the book over christmas 2012/13 and could not put it down. I found it so entertaining and outlandish . At 750 pages its a read alright but never did i end up bored not once. Finished it back to front as they say in one week. Refreshing critical self examination . I recommend it to all not just fight fans.
@@neversellout1190 'The undisputed Truth'. Reads like a Scorsese script and is fast paced , engaging , challenging , funny and tragic at the same time . His story is an example of what can happen when you cant curb your basic instincts and fall in with the wrong people while the govorment has your card marked making an example of a 'bad role model'. Its amazing a grown woman beauty queen agrees to pay the 'baddest man on the planet' a hotel room visit at 11pm at night willingly and not over a cup of green tea then cries rape later so she can cash in and get her fifteen minutes of fame .
Watched him being interviewed in prison, said"The brain is just basically there to learn new things, full of neurons". That bloke is positivity literally, didn't realize how literate and knowledgeable he is.
What an absolutely astonishing interview. What a humble, transcendent, loving man Mike Tyson has become. He is beyond what most people can comprehend in his peace, tranquility and pureness. He is an absolutely extraordinary individual.
"I got high and wanted love hearts or something on my face but instead I got this". From the pseudo intellectual interviewer to Michael's lack of emotional understanding or introspection, there were no revelations of truth here.
This is my favorite Mike Tyson interview, the fact that he turned the interviewer from a teacher to a student as the interview progressed is amazing to watch. The level of respect the interviewer had for Mike from start to finish is awe-inspiring, you can clearly see the sequence of events of a man with a 9th grade level of education talking to a professor who taught at Princeton University with countless accolades and at the end of the interview the professor is the one who felt inferior and wanted more. Mike is a special human being, he has reached a level of greatness that only a few can achieve but yet humble in his approach. His insight and wisdom go beyond his achievements in the ring, the stories at every turn helps us to apply them to our lives so that we do not make the same mistakes. A fantastic interview from beginning to end which is validated by a standing ovation.
We will not do the same mistakes... in fact... we might do the same mistakes, overall we will do some mistakes, but that is an important part in life. You need to lose in order to win, is one part you could hear out of this interview.
This interview affected me deeply. I had to hold back tears as to what was transpiring in front of me and I have no idea why I was tearing up. You encompassed it beautifully. It was something to behold. The interviewer was transfixed with Mikes essence, soaking it up with every answer. Just wonderful.
I cant believe I am listening to a guy whose only ocupation was beating the crap out of people. He is a lot deeper and smarter than thousands of university professors!! I am impressed!
Tyson has and always will be one of the most impactful , inspirational, motivational , philosophical, and humble human beings I will ever witness in my lifetime.
I saw this interview so many times, and I will do so in the future, because the nature of this man. Pure, and still around, so many struggles, and still a fighter, if no physical anymore, mentally still showing us how to fight.
Mike Tyson is quite an intellect. Going through life having scratched and clawed to exist and coming out on top in the end when alot of people would've just chose to give up hats off to you Mike.
most won't admit it, but people think that about most black men in fact. tyson just made his living from the projection and glamorization of those stereotypes. and he also paid a heavy price for it.
the EQUATION True! I once met Steve Urkal and was scared for my life!... same thing with Prince, I asked for his autograph but ran away when he tried to hand it to me. Damn scary black people's! 😯
John Wayne you’d be surprised at the way other people are frightened by a big black guy 😂 ever since I was a kid I’ve seen it and now I’m big so it happens to me too
Malik H Oh shit!... black man spotted!... quick!.. everyone hide your wallets! lol. For real tho, that ain't no lie, but thats mostly people that didn't grow up around black people. I used to go into downtown Detroit to cop my "stuff" and my friend that would roll with me would be all on edge and be stuffing his money in his socks, lol.
Mike shows great maturity and patience. half the time I don't know why the crowd is laughing and just do not like the interviewer, constantly asking questions borderline mocking Mike...you can see that clearly when he tried to pull the book away from Mike last second...
He first needed to become the mightiest warrior to find the strength inside to be absolutely open, absolutely vulnerable to this world. Who ever is able to find that courage is nothing less than a warrior than Mike.
