Photoluminescence is the process where a substance absorbs photons and re-emits photons.
This experiment was carried out using a focussed 405nm blue-violet laser diode onto a PTL (photoluminescent) panel.
**WARNING**:
*This video is for educational reference only. Never attempt to re-create this demonstration.
*This demonstration was carried out in a laboratory environment, by persons trained in laser safety.
*Lasers can cause irreversible eye damage if directed into the eye or by scattered reflections. Visible lasers can also contain elements of invisible ultra-violet or infra-red radiation which reflects at different angles to the visible light. Such reflections are even more hazardous as the pupil does not contract and there is no "blink reaction".
*Lasers can also cause burns if focused directly onto the skin.
