+James Smith, The Quiet Hiker it was blacked out the first two times we visited. Fortunately there's so many sweet spots around that this one is icing on the cake of you get to catch it clear.
@@blyvoor94 When it rains, which is a lot for this area, the run off into the spring is mixed with the surrounding land and it stirs up the sand in the spring itself. When it stops raining it takes a while for the spring to produce enough water to clear out all the cloudy water.
@Bruce R. I have an annual trip to Destin Army Recreation Area in Destin coming up in 3 weeks with some family. I am planning to head to Morrison Springs before going to Destin, and be there when they open. Is Ponce De Leon State Park/Springs worth going to in the same day? The weather prediction at Morrison "looks" clear on that day. Not hoping to swim because of the cool weather/cool water (might sneak a cool swim/snorkel) Hopefully it will stay like that. I know I called the Ft. Walton DoH two years ago and they advised me not to go because of the recent flooding and issue with a fecal bacteria. -- Ft Walton County has some great interactive/topo maps online if you dig a little for all the springs on the panhandle.
