I feel lucky that I saw him with Helloween on the Pumpkins United tour when they came to Chicago. He actually fell backwards off of the stage, which was scary, but he came back and finished the show strong. He played off of Andi Deris very well.
@@pablopallone The performance was really solid. I am actually a major fan of both Kiske and Deris so to see them together was very special. They found a way to bring the original songs into the "new age" songs. It's funny because Deris has been with them for much, much longer than Kiske was but he's viewed by many I know as the "new guy". I think that stinks for him but shows a lot of respect for Kiske. Deris is a pretty special metal vocalist in his own right, and I actually might like him more than I like Kiske. Anyway!!!!!!!!! I am glad that you saw them play live. It was a special evening for my wife and I, they really are still the best power metal band in the world.
Michael kiske is the one who sings with the clear voice, Tobías sammet is more raspy. I recommend if you want to know more about Michael kiske that apart from hearing helloween you listen projects in which he is involved like unisonic, place vendome, kiske-somerville,... he has an incredible voice and range
The lyrics of the song are kinda steeped in metaphor so at first glance some of it just seems random and silly, but when you really look at what they're saying it's basically all pointing to "We're here, were weird, get used to it". By the way, the singer is the "peacock" / "Judas" that the "huntsman" (critics) are trying make into a "filet steak", and the "pink and it's clear, he is a queer" part is about a journalist accusing Tobias of being gay for wearing a pink shirt.
Glad you dug it man! This is such an underrated track, from an underrated band. I'm pretty sure you are the first person to do a reaction to it on RU-vid. Metal takes itself so damn seriously so often... it's kinda refreshing when it has a sense of humor about itself.
Some bands can poke fun at the genre. Don't forget that GWAR exists (not to mention Manowar). However, you are very, very correct in that metal tries WAY TOO HARD to be serious. Edguy and Helloween both know how to balance this.

Wow, crazy how you did a reaction to this song. An Edguy bonus track with Kiske on it. In addition to the 2006 album "Rocket Ride" I had to buy the single "Superheroes" in order to get this song, back in the day. This and "Spooks in the Attic" were bonus songs.

I got into Edguy back around 2002 or so. I ended up with the theory that their singles were better than their albums. That's because I owned three albums: "Madrake", "Hellfire Club", and "Rocket Ride" and two singles: "King of Fools" and "Superheroes". I often found myself getting bored during the albums, but two of my favorite power metal songs "Judas at the Opera" and "New Age Messiah" were bonus tracks. I'm still not the biggest Edguy fan, but when they write a song that I like, it really blows me away. I think you should listen to some more Edguy and then check out Tobias Sammet with Avantasia (his own work with guest singers) and Ayreon (Arjen Lucasson's project that recruits singers and musicians from all around rock music). "The Scarecrow" and "Wicked Symphony" are great, but ignore those who say you must hear live and check out studio first.
While I was listening this song, it reminded me of Labyrinth, Helloween, Rhapsody, Kamelot, Stradivarius etc. I was listening those bands when power metal ruled the metal scene
yah , this is German style, power metal, right up Michael Kiske alley...you should check out his great vocals when he sang for the legendary German power metal group"helloween", it was the quite something
It says something about Tobias, that he would write a song this ambitious just to get back at a critic. It's almost like the ambitiousness of the song is his comeback...not the words!
