Where are the words to explain what's going on? Are we supposed to know without words? For one, what is the purpose of the green square? Why watch if you dont know what the purpose is?

It helps keep your threads from bunching up at the beginning and end of your sewing (keeps the tension on the threads as you begin) and also saves thread over time as you don’t need to yank the thread out to snip it which also keeps your work neater with less threads to trim off at the end. I have a small pile of them so I don’t need to stop and clip it off to finish but can just feed another one in at the end. Just make sure the fabric is doubled and not just a single layer of fabric (again, to ensure good tension on the threads).
