This is the second video I have watched now from you, and I was just as impressed as your shark diving in the Bahamas video. What camera and housing are you shooting with?
My setup is very basic. GoPro 10 with housing. I shoot 4K 60fps and with manual settings ISO, white balance, bit rate, etc. Dual 10k lumen warm video lights (big blue) mounted on a custom rig I made. I’ve been wanting to upgrade, but I’m having a hard time justifying given the quality of the videos the little GoPro is giving me. plus the easy handling while underwater. 😬😁 Thank you again for your interest.
@@Underwater_Explorations I shoot on a GoPro 10 as well, although my last two trips didn't have excellent visibility so I didn't make any videos. I have fallen in love with my new Kraken Torches, so many options and are super powerful and easy to maneuver like my GoPro. Learning from watching an old friends videos who learned from Andy Cassagrande, the secret is everything looks better in slow-mo... hence the 60 fps... but I am trying to film one or two dives a trip in 120 fps if the visibility is worth it.
Great !!!! I just saw one of your videos and subscribed to your channel. The Tiger Beach. video is just Fantastic, thank you for sharing your experience and all the tips. Ive never thought of mounting a GoPro on a shark … lol … very cool and ingenious. I want to go there badly, probably later this year. I found that shooting at 4K 60fps is the sweet spot for me. I tried 120fps and the results were not as good as I anticipated. The GoPro’s processor in low light underwater just add too much digital noise particularly in the “blue” and “green” gamma. Shooting in shallow waters and with great visibility and light (like you mention) will probably work great for ultra slow motion shots.
Thank you very much for your interest. I would start by saying safety is always our main and most important goal. There is a lot of planning and variables that go into a dive like this even before we jump into the water. Sharks indeed are apex predators and in some instances can show aggressive behaviors, however the fund of knowledge that exists regarding their behavior is vast (thanks to many scuba pioneers and marine biologists) There is a specific technique we use to asses the sharks, their body language and behavior around us, we use these to determine when and how is safe to make an approach and film them and when is not.
