Yes, I see what you mean. Even turning the tighness all the way up, the BBCSO sound is very lush and the staccatissimo doesn't really feel like a staccatissimo. For whatever reason, the solo horn appears to be the tightest? You could try layering that over the trombone (that is, if it reaches low enough, which I think it does). But to be really honest, I don't think you will ever get that really crisp pp staccatissimo sound that you would need for a good representation. Not with BBCSO Core at least. 8dio's century brass trombones library has some ridiculously dry and short fanfare articulation. That one would work -- but 8dio is very hard to properly blend with BBCSO, the libraries imho are over-priced when they aren't on sale. Musio's Cinebrass Trombones Staccatissimo is also much better than BBCSO's. You can check that one out 30 days free trial. It's just - the brass is BBCSO's weak spot. Sorry I can't really help out here. Oh, and THANK YOU! I highly appreciate your nice comment :D

Thanks for your reply Samuel. I think you make some great points and I’ll take a look at those other options. It’s such an iconic track that it would be impossible to faithfully recreate every instrument. I guess I just wanted to build each track layer by layer to get a sense of how each contributed to the overall piece. We are very familiar with the trumpets but I love seeing and hearing how the other instruments combine to give it the full impact. I sometimes feel sorry for those orchestral players as they don’t get the credit they deserve. Anyway, thanks again and I look forward to following more of your videos. I just wish I used Studio One or you used Cubase 😂

Yes. There is only one dynamic layer and only one sample for everything. I think what it's really really good for is as an educational tool. It's free, and the sound is good enough to get an idea of what a composition might sound like for real. And you get basically all the sections of a symphonic orchestra.

I really enjoyed your video. It's a nice study of the different sections of the orchestra 😃. I don't know why, but to me it has a sort of "Pirate" vibe 😅 Use the midi however you want! I'm half is its useful to you! However, be warned... I tried the "mode" toggle in my daw, and it sounds - as is it out of the box - horrible in the core version. The percussion is all over the place, and the sound is very unbalanced. Obviously with core you can and should make use of the multi-tounge articulations and such... But I'm sure it can serve as a good basis for an awesome result!

@@SamuFL Hey, thank you for listening! I'm rather proud of that little piece, which - once I had the original theme - more or less composed itself in my head. That's where BBCSO Core is such a MARVELLOUS tool! It's the first piece of orchestral music I have written that has been properly realised. So my piece made you think of Pirates!? Well, why not!? Nothing wrong with that! That's the thing with purely instrumental music - the imagination can run wild as to what it's about. I put in some fake "tuning up" at the beginning, as otherwise there would have been nothing but silence under the opening screens. The day I finished the visuals, my sister and niece arrived at my place, where they were going to be staying for a week. Naturally, I wanted to show my new video to them. My niece is another amateur composer herself, and during my "tuning up", she asked me, "Who played this?" and her jaw absolutely dropped when I said with a smile, "I did!!!" She thought she was listening to an actual symphony orchestra. She had no idea it was a software orchestra! Now how about this? I'll subscribe to you, if you'll subscribe to me? That will mean that I'll get to hear any more of your creations when you release them, and you'll get to hear mine. Well, as an owner of the full library, I beg to disagree. Yes, it's a freebie. Yes, there are freebies with more consistent sound (e.g., by ProjectSAM) - but BBCSO Discover is imho a GREAT tool to learn the basics of virtual orchestration. It's really very extensive and lightweight, which makes it very useful for bloody beginners.

@@SamuFL Samuel, do you have problems as I do with the orchestral instruments sounds swelling when you hold the key down on the keyboard, instead of remaining constant in sound volume and velocity? I'm using the VST with Mixcraft's (my DAW) latest version.

It's an excerpt (sampled down and compressed and simplified) of their pro-grade BBS Symphony Orchestra library. This being said: Which free orchestra do you suggest is better? I would love to check it out!!
