I have a cottage up in Northern Michigan. Unfortunately our lake is a little smaller and there are no wake times before 10 AM and after 6:30 PM. We have a giant, neighboring lake right next to ours and Every time I’m out fishing at like 8 in the evening I always hear a nice roaring V8 in the distance. Sounds so fucking peaceful.
In the '90s, that was the sound from my balcony of $150k in cash hidden in subwoofer speaker boxes heading down to Jacksonville Fla, coming back to Newport News 20 hours later as 4 compressed 2.2lb packages of a white powdery substance hidden in subwoofer speaker boxes, half a dozen times per year. Just sayin'... That's the sound of money.
Rigged for long haul cruising at high speed. The slow ass planing is just something you have to suffer through for that. But as an archipelago cruiser you need that high speed.
most likely has a B1 and propped for top end/cruising, mirage+25P possibly. par for the course when you're not pulling a bunch of bastard kids on tubes all day.
If you look you can see from his prop wash it was trimmed out at first. You might expect that if the no wake area was shallow but whatever its his boat
I want to see someone stick a Ferrari or Lamborghini engine into a boat like they did in the movie revenge of the nerds with the Ferrari engine in the sail boat lol, that would be epic.
Amazing…for about ten minutes. Anyone who’s been on a boat knows how loud a stock engine sounds, so imagine how this sounds. People who like this are the same people who cut off a well designed car exhaust, gain no or little HP but end up with terrible drone.
guys for every guy who loves the sound of a well built V8 there are just as many or more that just get pissed. I live on a beach with pretty much all older people and my boat has a 502 supercharged with a full roller and through transom open water injected headers and I try very hard to idle my way out till I am completely out of our bay, I still get nasty looks?
It basically raises the the angle of the propulsion unit in the water to get the bow of the boat up out of the water and on a plane. Lowering the unit would bring the front of the boat down closer to the water
Is this happiness..? Only $ 100.- per hour to gasoline. Being bored after having done this more than 3 times while disturbing everybody who enjoys this beautiful scene with this farty noise. Come on, I love the sound of V8's. But for me this is 'tristeze' (italian) in one of its purest forms
@@djscott9207 Totally speed prop. My H2X takes forever to plane especially if I have more than 4 people in the boat and if all sitting in the back. But once on plane, 70 mph is obtainable.
@@josel8311 The sound? No. All engines have their own unique sound, just like people do... certain sounds carry over no matter what accessories you add... like an accent. That accent belongs to the 496 alone.
@@bajamike9276 Thanks for the reply. Since the firing order of the 496 HO found in the Baja and the 454ci are out of phase with one another, the exhaust pulsing for each engine is unique. The 496 actully shares the firing order of the LS small block family, which is why pitch and pulse duration aside, both sound rather similar at WOT. In other words, it's physically impossible for the 496 and 454 to sound the same. They very well may sound the same to you, but they are quite different, and easily recognizable from great distance. Back in the 80s, the 496 was much more popular, and was the benchmark sound of the go-fast boat. I think Liberator used them quite a bit too.
He was a mile away and moving at 70 or 75 mph. Any car at that speed and distance would look slow too. Not bad for a 27 ft boat with a single motor that sounds stock. A full tank of gas with a speed prop will make it slower to plane.
